| ![]() Okay sooo soo soo sorry if this is a dumb question! I'm getting a my little girl Lillian in August and I was wondering about using diapers for her. When me and her are hanging around the house I want to prevent her from peeing (even though she will be supervised these buggers will find a way) and I was curious if I could use a diaper. ![]() ![]() 1. DO they still pee in them??? 2. I read on another thread that some put a panty liner in theirs (but she was in heat..but should I always use a liner?) 3. Is this even an appropriate tool in potty training? Sorry again if this is a dumb question...I'm just and anxious new mom! LOL ![]()

| ![]() Yes she will still pee in them. I've never heard of anyone using it as a house breaking tool. But it might work if you kept an eye on her and put her in the appropriate spot right away. She wouldn't know the difference and it would save you from having to clean up. But yes I would use a panty liner or else you will be going through a dozen a day. She is trained to use the pee pad when she is in her pen, and she is very good about it. But when I have her out with the other dogs, they just play with the pee pad. When you come to get her, I will show you how I have her pen set up. |

| ![]() I don't know too much about diapers, cause I just stick to training my dogs to pee normally on a peepad or outside...but I would think: -They will still pee in them, especially when they're a puppy. You cant prevent them from going, it has to come out sometime, and if they're wearing a diaper...then it's all going in the diaper. The little ones don't know how to hold their bladders so well -To me, it seems like it's not the best tool to potty train because if they get used to peeing in their diaper..and then, if you ever take them off, maybe they won't know not to go in the house or wherever they are (cause they were so used to just going at any given time before). I think of it like toddlers. If we don't teach them to go in the right place (the toilet) and transition them from going in their diapers, then they may never learn and you'll have messes. That's just my opinion. Maybe more people will have better advice? ![]() Have you thought about training them to go on peepads or anything? At least you can teach them to go on something that will catch their pee/poop, and it won't make a mess all over their body(as opposed to the diaper).

I'm thrilled to hear that she is doing so well on her potty training. It's a plus that she will come to me pre-spoiled and with a good grip on training!! LOL ![]() Lord I am soo confused...Okay so they are not used to prevent puppys from peeing when they are walking around??? Oooooo okay cause I thought they were some type of preventative tool or something. Okay well then that clears that up! ![]()

| ![]() Well I was completely misunderstanding the purpose of doggy diapers! LOL. I plan on paper training and I thought that while they were not fully trained you could put these diapers on them for preventing accidents. I thought that if they are wearing the diapers they wouldn't go on themselves. I dunno what I was thinking..LOL..I guess I'm a bit slow!

![]() That was all my opinion, but I'm sure if you train them to go on the peepads...then that'll be a place they'll know where to go and they'll be able to hold it in diapers, and the diaper thing may keep them from having those accidents. If you really want to use those diapers, I would just be consistent and schedule when they go at first (like when you're going to take off the diapers and stuff to let them go on the pee pads), because they can't hold it too long when they're younger. Good luck! You must be so excited to get your new puppy! I know I was before I got Luigi ![]()

| ![]() I don't know much about diapers except for females in heat, but I'm wondering if a diaper might confuse her. You might want to consider pee pads. I decided to use them for Jake when I got him, as it was Fall and I didn't want to have to take him out in the cold weather since he was so little and so young. He caught on really quick, and I think they're very convenient to use, especially when the weather is bad. I live in Ohio where the weather changes by the minute sometimes, it seems lol |
