| at 12 weeks and 2lbs 3 oz my vet gave Zoey 1/2 a lepto vaccine. She was sick for 2 days. Panting, dry heaves (never actually vomited) lethargic, not eating. It was very scary. I cancelled her next appointment for vaccines and now she is going at 17 weeks to get rabies. I am only getting the rabies every 3 years from now on. No lepto.

| Shots are really confusing, so sorry if I'm being repetitive. I think when I take my two to the vet for their annual shots, they get a single shot (that either works for several things or contains several things), correct? Say I took my two the vet ONLY to get a physical and shots every three years. Would there be any danger in only getting shots every three years if they are exposed to other dogs (at the groomers, dog parks, etc.)?

| Personally, I would NEVER allow that combo shot, it's a cocktail of 5 rolled into 1.....it is the DHLPP for: Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Parainfluenza, & Parvo Virus... that is the equivalent to us getting five diseases at once & having our immune system cope w/ them all at once.....it's way to much for it to handle & some dogs have a compromised immune system .....they don't need all of the vaccines in that shot....the only ones I now do is distemper & parvo, the three shot series, when their pups & no more, ever....I've also done the rabies, but now I'm reconsidering that one too,I don't care if it is required by law, my dogs are in my home & I feel the risk of coming into contact w/ rabies is minuscule...compared to the health risks of the vaccine....this is all a personal choice for everyone....I don't take mine to a groomers because they want the dog to have every vaccine under the sun before they will groom him & I will not do it. I will groom him myself....Keep reading the info is out there

| Doggie Daycare wont take them here unless they have their shots up to date (yearly) or a Bortella shot (every 6 months)

| My little girl got shots with the breeder at 6 weeks. when we took her to get a health check-up at 8 weeks, they told us any shots before 8 weeks do not count and it will not stay in their system?? i had never heard that before. so we got her vaccinated again at 8 weeks.. and will be due for the next set in a couple weeks. any opinions or further knowledge about this? Also she was dewormed(as she wasnt with the breeder) and ended up passing round worms. We have been trying to find someone we really liked.. and went and had another health exam with a new vet. We told him about her deworming and he gave her another one(but this one fought off multiple worms-not just the roundworms that he said the other vet gave her) and now i need to go back in 3 weeks for the last one. it was only about 5 days between the two dewormings(even though they were different). anyone know anything about this either?? i do want to make sure they are all gone though!! just curious.. thanks.

| If my vet just want to dismiss the issue as a few nutty people are making things up or wants to make me feel like I'm an irresponsible owner or neglectful owner I look for a new vet....sometimes they get into a routine of doing things a certain way that was taught in school, they have a hard time changing the way things are done, even though the info may dictate it should be changed....& sometimes it's just a money issue, after all they are in a position to tell you not to do something that will greatly impact their income if he recommends this change to all his clients ....
