| Something you might want to do is take a stuffed toy with you to the breeder's...one that is close to his mommy's size, and let his mommy play with it for a bit to get her scent on it. We did this, and it ended up being Jake's favorite stuffed toy. His breeder also gave him a blanket that he used there, which had mommy's scent on it. It's still his fav blanket, along with one of MY blankets which I use when I'm relaxing on the couch watching tv. I think he likes it because it has my scent on it. |

When you are looking for the water bowl and food dish, look in the cat aisle. They will have smaller dishes that are more suitable for Yorkie puppies. Is the breeder going to give you a blanket that the mother has been laying on? If not, take a blanket to the breeder a few days before you pick him up and ask the breeder to put it with the mother. This will put the mothers scent on the blanket and will make it easier for your puppy to adjust when you take him home. And don't forget a book on owning a Yorkie and a small soft dog or cat bed.

| I agree with a harness, and make sure you get the same food that the breeder is feeding him now, and if you want to change it do the change slowly. A squeeky toy is a must and we love playing with a lazer pen. Enjoy!!!

| Thats a problem I had with Aubrey. I got him these bowls at Pier One Imports, that are porcelin, and they are only 4.00 a piece and they are really good. Becuse he got bumps under his chin from eating from a plastic bowl... Heres the link to the bowl: http://www.pier1.com/catalog/productdetail.aspx?oid=122857&returnURL=http%3a%2f %2fwww.pier1.com%2fcatalog%2fcollections.aspx%3ffh _view%3dlister%26fh_refpath%3dfacet_59432454%26fh_ location%3d%2f%2fpier1direct%2fen_US%2fcategories% 3c%7b110300%7d%2fcategories%3c%7b110358%7d%26fh_ed s%3d%c3%9f%26fh_start_index%3d0%26fh_view_size%3d6 7&fh_view=lister&fh_refpath=facet_59432454&fh_loca tion=//pier1direct/en_US/categories<{110300}/categories<{110358}&fh_eds=ß&fh_start_index=0&fh_v iew_size=67 Its the bottom one (square bowl). BANNED! | I recommend an x-pen, a bed for your puppy, quick-stop incase you cut your babies nails too short, a carrier for traveling, and you may eventually find yourself getting a stroller too. These are in addition to all the previously recommended stuff. Sounds like you are well prepared. Good luck with your new furbaby!!! |

| Congrats on the new puppy: Please be sure to get a HARNESS!! Not a collar. There necks are soooo tiny and fragile they can be permanently injured by a collar. |

| I'd add to your list: -Paper towels-the value pack of a name brand. Don't waste time on the generic ones. -A play pen-so worth it! -Get the smallest crate you can find. You'll have problems crate training him and accidents in there if you get a large one. -Polar fleece-cut in 24" squares. Pick up some remnants at your fabric store, or get fleece baby blankets from Target. I recommend making your own from the fabric store-they don't fray on the edges, and you can get LOTS of patterns/colors. You'll go through lots of them, as they get dirty and stinky easily when they're little. They're much easier to wash when you have several smaller ones. -Get him a harness-no collars for yorkies! -A snuggle puppy from PetSmart-the kind you can microwave so it warms up. We had one for Emma at night. -A kong toy-great for treats and teething! I'd also recommend you make some toys from things you have around the house already than buying a bunch. Your new puppy will be so curious and easily entertained just by his new environment. Try an old sock with a knot in it, an empty 1 liter pop bottle-slightly crushed with the cap on tightly, a large paper bag (mine liked to hide in them!), a small stuffed animal, paper towel tubes, etc. You'll save money, and all of these things that you would normally throw out will get another use. They will probably be destroyed by your new puppy anyway!
