| YIKES! I pulled a TICK off Vixxen! My husband said to me "look, Vixxen has an ouie-theres a scab here." So I checked her out and went screaming back to him to pull this thing out!! It was pretty big and just the head of it was in her skin. There was a tiny red spot last night, I haven't checked yet this morning-she's sleeping in What should I do now? Does she need to go to the vet? Do you guys keep your babies on flea/tick meds? Ewww I feel so itchy! We have a creek that runs behind our backyard and then its covered in trees and woodsy like. Deer, sheep, horses everywhere. She had to have just picked it up since it wasn't buried, yes? We took them to the lake and I let them go to the water, but that was last Saturday?

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Yeah, they tend to burrow fairly quickly. Several years ago, after a Colorado camping trip, I discovered one on my thigh while showering. I'd never seen one before and had my BF confirm what it was AND remove it. Scared the crap out of me! |

| found one a few weeks ago on little Emmy. it was not even completely attached yet. i got it off and stomped it, burned it, sqooshed (sp) it, and then stomped it some more! i called the vet, she said just check her good from head to toe and keep an eye on her. also mentioned checking when we did flea and tick treatment last. said if it was due within the next week to go ahead and put it on again. we live in the country, so i guess it is a part of life. Oscar and Emmy are mostly "house-dogs" but they do go out to potty or pretend to potty and to run and play a bit.

| It takes 72 hours to transmit lyme disease. More than likely your baby is not in danger of that. Also lyme disease is only carried by Deer ticks. I dont know if they are common in your area or not. My boys have had ticks with their heads burrowed... totally grosses me out sooooooo much!!! I pulled them out with tweezers then put witch hazel and peroxide on the wound site. It usually scabs up and goes away in a few days.

| If your yorkie isn't on a flea/tick preventative, I highly recommend that you put her on one. Frontline Plus is a good one. |
