Missed this thread until this morning, don't know how!!! I am excited that Kansas City has been picked. (I live about 2.5 hours away) As others have said most of the things to do will probably be in Missouri. The airport is small in comparison to many of the other international airports in the US. It has 3 terminals, so you basically get off the plane walk 20 steps to get out of the secure area and another 10-20 yards to get your luggage and then out the doors that are right there.
I flew this summer from MCI to ONT, LAX (prefer the ONT airport!) and Denver. All on dog business. I was told about express jet by scrapindee and just loved the experience. They were very reasonable rates, served food, allowed dogs ($50 for in cabin)

Tornados are really not a problem. They do not strike the whole state like a hurricane would. They are very spotty and usually just during the spring. We almost always have warning.

There are many great museums in the KC area. Truman Library and Steamboat Arabia, but I don't know how dog friendly. There is a new shopping area on the east side of KC not too far from Overland Park. It is called the Legends. It is an outdoor mall, so if it is very hot you may want to do one of the indoor malls.

By the way, I plan on being there with at least on Biewer for those of you that would like to see and experience one of these wonderful yorkies.

hey Edith! June of next year.. i think we have a date... work has been so crazy i havne't had two seconds to call the hotel we want to stay at.. but come setpember things will slow down and i'll be able to let you all know for sure

I asked hubby and he said well where is it? I told him and he was like yeah right. So I guess that's a no. But he also said no to getting another furbaby, that changed quickly. So from here till then I'll be doing lots of begging. :D

I am not sure how much traveling (even to nearby locations) Pam will be doing in the next year. She has a couple of major surgeries and rehab waiting for her in the next year. This is the reason she needs to find her babies homes soon. She will not be able to take care of them for awhile after the surgeries. Of course I will help her out all I can, but the Fancy Creek bridge is now closed and the detour adds 15 more minutes to get to her home.

Hi - just found this thread...we would love to go but a little far to drive for one day..sniff..sniff....you guys are doing a lot of pre-planning and wish you guys all the luck on attendance. Hopefully down the road there will be a YT meet up on the East Coast.

Unless someone wants to hook up with me and drive together from Cleveland???:D That would be a thought!

I would love to come...but there are a few things keeping me away. Beau doesn't like flying and I don't like driving and the BF doesn't sound too interested. Another thing is that I'm only 18 so I'm...basically...PETRIFIED!! Its a long trip to make for only one day (~14 hours). I have school in June so it would have to be late June too... a lot of things to consider but I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to come... maybe after a date is set things will look better for me...:rolleyes:

oh, I love Biewers and got to see them finally when I attended the YT fair in MI . . so I will definitely be seeking you out :) hope that is okay :p

i'm working on it... i just started back at school so things are nuts but as soon as they slow down i'll be calling two hotels and seeing what i can get. If you read a bit back in this thread it says the date we are trying for.. i can't remmeber right now.. sorry :p

We're shooting for the weekend of June 21, 2008, but don't count on that for sure until Marci gets the hotel to agree!!!

Not sure how this will work out with the furbabies but will look into it anyway!!!

Well I just checked Delta and the airfare as of today to Kansas City is $215.00 rd trip for that Friday and coming back on Monday! in June of 2008!! ( i don't like to travel on Sundays..to much traffic!! :) ) Delta allows a total of 4 animals as carry on luggage: 1 in business, 1 in first and 2 in main cabin..cost is 75.00 collected at gate each way so add $150.00 for the fur baby and you have travel cost of $365.00 rd trip for mommy and baby!!!...I guess group rates won't help us here!!! but the cost isn't bad ..its approx 2 hr flight...based on this I am still game !! and on hold to purchase my ticket!!!:D

YAY! I convinced my boyfriend to take me!!! Kansas City here we come!! :yay_jump:
