Don't forget, we will be doing a vendor's fair too (for those of you flying in), so Saturday, we are hoping for a meet -n- greet type event/dinner and the vendor's fair.

We are hoping to get goodie bags and area information (on shopping, places of interest, important numbers (taxi, etc) to pass out.

We had at one time wanted to try to set up a tour of a museum or outdoor garden w/ our furbabies, but I think that was getting too complicated, trying to find a place that would allow all the dogs and then not know how many people would be in a tour, etc. BUT if we have information on places and maps, would that be good enough for those who may want to venture around town when there is free time?

Ohh i hope i get to go! Just a thought, what about the hotel that was used during the Michigan meetup? Was it Michigan? Anyway is that hotel in Kansas City also? Maybe we can ask them since they're pet friendly and let everyone stay there for that weekend...

Thanks for the suggestion, but I tried that hotel, and they told us they don't have any grassy areas around the hotel for our babies to do their business in since they're right on the Plaza (on the main drag - amongst all the stores and such), although that sounded like a pretty crappy way of saying, "NO" if you ask me :eek:. BUT...I do have another option lined up, and we're currently discussing details and pricing, so it should be SOON that I can give you guys the info.

At this point, I've found a hotel that has rooms available the weekend of June 21, 2008, and they're currently double-checking the availability of the ballroom for us. I've told them most people would be arriving Friday night, June 20 and leaving Sunday night, June 22, although I did mention that some people are using this as their family vacation next year and would maybe be arriving earlier or staying later. That didn't seem to be a problem.

We do too! But much to my disappointment, I guess there wasn't a new episode on this week :eek: :eek: !!!! We were all set - Sukoshi in pjs and my hubby and I ready for bed, and we laid down to snuggle, turned on the TIVO...and NO "HOUSE"!!!!!!!! I have to wait a whole week for the next episode :eek: :eek: !!! Good thing "Grey's" is on tonight to heal my wounds :D :D :D.

We can research any areas that have a dog park, then alot of our issues would be solved as far as an outdoor gathering place that would be safe for the furbabies to run and us visit...Just an Idea...:rolleyes:

There is a beautiful huge park within walking distance of the Plaza that we can gather at. You wouldn't want the pups off their leashes due to traffic but we could definitely meet up there if we wanted to and perhaps set up some ex-pens if available.

Yes - You're referring to Loose Park. Patty58 suggested that park to me (and I think a couple others may have mentioned it too), and I know I've seen a lot of dogs there in the past, so that would be a great option for hanging out with the babies. Because we are going to have all the vendors set-up though, we need a space at the hotel to set up tables for the vendors on Saturday. But, I think Loose Park is a great idea if we wanted to set up an informal gathering for Friday, while people are trickling into town.

Oh, I just cannot wait any flippin longer!!!!!! LOL I am so excited about this!! It's going to be such a great time, and considering I've NEVER met a YTer before, I guess I'll be catching up that weekend :D Hey Lisa, if you need any help, let me know too...don't know what I could do ??? but I'm always willing to try. And I know you're from KC, but so is my bf so if you are wondering about any kinda stuff (not necessarily doggy stuff) but anyway..he might (?) be able to help! Let me know! Actually, I wasn't thinking of Loose Park which I believe is across from the Nelson Art Gallery and a bit of a walk but rather the big park with the horse fountain right off the Plaza. However, both parks are huge and beautiful and would work nicely.

I haven't heard back from 1 hotel yet that I was holding out for a response from, but I was able to work out working from home today, tomorrow, and Monday, so I'm going to give them a call here soon (shhh...don't tell my boss :D :D), and depending on what they say, we should know what hotel! I'm still waiting back from THAT hotel for some numbers, but I think they are not wanting to use any more of their time until I hear from this other hotel, as I told them it was between then and one other place. So...I'll call this other hotel, and then call the first hotel, and I'll tell them to get moving on the rest of my questions because we have LOTS of people waiting for details. I'm just as excited as the rest of you!!!

I'm sure you are doing a fabulous job, Lisa! We all know that you are organizer #1 so I'm sure when we get the details, we will get a lot! I'm sure you are working hard, and I really really appreciate that! I also know it will turn out GREAT with you at the helm! YAY!! I get to meet sooooooo many people (and FURBABIES!!!) that weekend! Bf's family and YTers...but..shh...don't tell bf, I'm 100 times more excited to meet all of you :grin2: :grin2:

Hey Des! Unless we've scared her off, Jodie (LuvMySissy) is the person on the committee in charge of vendors. She can't do much until we make sure everything's good to go with the hotel, but after we work out the details there (how many vendors we can set-up, etc.), I'll sure she'll be posting something for all our wonderful YT vendors!!! I guess I need to start saving money, not only for airfare and such, but also for all the extra $ I'm bound to spend!!!! :rolleyes: :eek: :D :D :D

Can anyone tell me an estimated cost per night that you are looking for in a hotel?

Once we're confirmed with the date for sure, I'm also going to check into transportation companies. I have a vision that from the MI/OH/IN/IL areas we can charter a luxury coach bus to pick up everyone at a meeting point, with pee pads lining the walk way and we can begin the party on the way since everyone on this coach could start getting to know each other and celebrating right away!!!!!!

I think that is a great idea. What a fun way to start such an awesome weekend! I would enjoy doing that if I didn't already live here. :) :)

I WISH we had the luxury of choosing our hotel based on cost (that's what I envisioned - putting this great event out there, offering to book so many rooms at these hotels, and then they all fight over our business :D , and whoever gives us the cheapest rates WINS :D), but at this point, it looks like I can only convince 1 to have us at all (although I followed-up with the 2nd hotel yesterday, and although they STILL haven't returned my call, I'm hopeful...but last I talked to the lady, she was checking with her GM about having SO MANY dogs there at once :rolleyes: , and since she's not returning my calls now, I'm not sure she could convince the upper management :eek: ). I have the one that HAS checked with upper management and gotten approval working up other numbers right now (banquet room fees, dinner cost, etc.), but the room rate he's given me so far is $139 (approx. $70/night for members sharing a room). He says that's the best they can do, only I did ask him in my last e-mail if that was a discounted rate or not, because I think if we're bringing this many people to his hotel, the least he can do is give us a discount of some sort, but I'm assuming that is a discounted rate since he says that's the best he can do...as though they've helped out us with the $139 price. He also didn't mention a pet fee in his last e-mail, so the list of questions I have him working on now includes whether or not there is an additional pet fee on top of that, and if so, if it is refundable upon check-out. At the very least, I would hope they would discount or waive the normal pet fee, again, with so many people coming to this, but I'll see what he responds, and I'll go from there. His price is actually about $30 cheaper per night than the Sheraton gave us, before they changed their mind about us staying there. Do you guys have a set $ figure in mind that you are willing to pay, and then anything above that, you won't be able to go? I would hate for anyone to miss out because of cost, but my hands are kinda tied at this point since only the one hotel wants us :( .
