2008 YT MEETUP Update!
 

Well after much thought, discussion and researching, we have decided on a city and state... and we hope that it makes as many people happy as possible. For the very first YT meetup we thought the best idea would be to just have one. If all goes well the following year, the meet up will be split into and East and West meetup so that everyone can at least attend one.

so without further ado (sp??) our city for the Summer of 2008 IS....

Kansas City, Kansas!!!! (i've never been... very excited to go!!)

Kansas is right smack dab in the middle of the USA and we hope that it means many MANY YorkieTalker's can attend. It would be great if you could reply to this post with a "Probably no" or "probably yes" to attending. While we realize it is very far in advance to know how your life will be in a year's time, we'd ask that you take a guess :) I know i can say, probably yes, at the moment, but who knows what will happen in the next 12 months. This way, the committee can work on finding a venue that will accomodate our numbers. no need to get a huge building if huge numbers aren't coming, and the same goes for the other way, we don't all want to be crowded into one small place! Also in the coming weeks we'll be putting out calls to possible vendors, and asking your opinions on other VERY important things :)

That being said... start saving those pennies!! Kansas City HERE WE COME!!!

That's a 16 hour drive for us. Which means two days there and two days back...that's a LOT of vacation time spent driving (and I'm not sure I want to fly with two dogs:rolleyes: ) My days of driving 16 hours straight through are LOOONG gone.

But, it's only 16 hours, it IS doable. Alot will depend on how much vacation time dh has, whether or not I've found a teaching job (summer's off) etc.,

If it's at all possible, we'll be there!

YAY!! I am in the process of planning our vacation for the summer of '08, so you can put me on the list as a 'probably so'. I've never been to Kansas either, so it'll be a new experience for hubby and I!

When looking at nightly accomodations, please consider camp sites for RV's. Much easier than finding a hotel for my 5 babies.... There may be other RV'ers too.

I am so excited! And I only have one baby, so it won't be too much of a hassle to fly...

Probably not :( Unfortunately it's about 15 hours from me and that's a lot of driving time w/4 fur babies. Maybe something in the future will change and I'll be able to make it *fingers crossed*

you guys put a ton of work into this and I really hope it all pans out and if there's a way for me to go count me in !! Good job :thumbup: :thumbup:

ya i think one day... but i mean if everyone arrives on the friday and still wants to do stuff on the sunday before we leave.. that's no problem...

Meet and Greet
 

I am going to the Westie Meet and Greet in Charlotte, No. Carolina the last weekend in June. I can't wait to go. It will be a whole weekend thing though. No. Carolina is not far from us, but I'd love to go to Kansas City. Did you mention a date? If you did I must have over looked it. These things sound like so much fun. I will post an update about the Westie one when I get back. I have a Westie and two Yorkies and we like to party. :thumbup:

and a RV park would be a great big help.

And I would be more than willing to bring some texas YTers with me, We can sleep about 6 in our motorhome, and of course furkids would be invited too...;)

i don't think we are ANYWHERE near setting a date.. but we'll let you know when we do!

Count me in unless something changes :) and hopefully i do not have too many classes. My boyfriend just told me its a 4 hour drive and he will take us as long as we can also plan a poker trip lol :)

For me it depends on when it is. I'd like to, but I'm already attending one conference next year, so if it happened to fall at the same time, I wouldn't be able to.

Welp. I just told hubby and he said "oh are you going?" I'm like "well not by myself!" and his reply?? "haha (thats him laughing) well I'm not going!!!" Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo at this point???? Not likely as I won't go alone :(

Yes, most probably will be there. Knock on wood, but that gives me plenty of time to save and plan for contingencies.

Actually that's a point--those of us who are traveling w/out our spouse partner could share a room w/ another YT and pup in the same boat.

I think we could have a great time we will let hubby drive and we will party harty...

oh i'm all jealous!! sounds like SO much fun!!! why do i have to live in stupid ontario!!

OK, you can come too... but pretty girls make my hubby nervous, and we wouldnt want that happening if hes driving!!! LOL:D
