Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | Hope your baby is okay! I battle with hypo everyday with my guy. He goes from bouncing happy heathy the goes to sleep like normal and has seizures during the night. So I dont get to see if he ever has symptoms to tell you what they look like or are. I know every dog is different. He never gets lethargic, wobbly, nothing of the sort because he's sleeping. All I can say is keep them warm. My vet said that getting cold at night causes thier bodies to work to try and keep themselves warm....therefore burning sugar...then causing hypo episode. If they are warm body doesnt burn off that sugar! Lots of mini meals and MAKE SURE they go to bed with full belly! I let him lick a lil peanut butter before bed now....and try to get a snack of complex sugars and grains in his system. Couple cheerios, baby carrots anything.... Good luck with your baby! If you ever need to talk Im here! Hypo is so scary to me. There are soooo many times I wanna just cry and talk to someone who goes thru the same thing.....Especially when these occur at night, vet is closed, and family asleep....feel very alone.

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | Well after reading my post it kinda sounds like he is worse than he is....sorry sometimes you dont realize how things come out. In the month I have had him....he has had 2 episodes/seizures. First one I had NO IDEA what was going on. Did Bile acid, blood work, 2 fecal exams....ended up hypo. I sleep with him on a matress on my floor. I keep house VERY warm, feed frequently, do snacks, nutrical, the whole 9 yards. I think I am just wore out. It took seeing him have 1 seizure and now I am paranoid. I sit at night when I should be sleeping, and he IS sleeping and just stare at him. I wake up every hour or so and cover him up check his gums....you know typical "paranoid mom" syndrome. WHen I am laying there exhausted wanting to sleep but cant is when I feel alone..,.I start the WHAT IF'S?? I'll be fine and he is doing great and has gained well over a pound since I have had him....Just gets scary and anyone with a baby with any issue I am sure can relate. So whenever I see someone post about hypo baby or sick baby...I try and let them hear my story so they too know they are not alone! Thanks all for helping us mommies with sick babies. YT is great!

YT 500 Club Member | Wow, this is an interesting thread. Is this more common to very young dogs and very small dogs, or can any little Yorkie of any age have this? On two separate occasions, our little girl (5 years and 7 lbs.) seemed to loose control of her muscles and list to one side and act strangely. She also did spit up a small amount on the first occasion. She also seemed to be trembling. The first time, we took her to the emergency vet, but by the time we got there, she was fine. They thought that she may have had a seizure. She had another episode recently, (it has been about a year since the first) but we just picked her up and watched her, and she was fine. Could this have been hypoglycemia? She is a very picky eater and sometimes refuses food. |

It is more common to puppies of small breeds, and extra tiny adult dogs, but I believe it can happen to just about any dog.

| My maltese has hydrocephalus... That is the cause of the seizures and she clusters, to make things even worse. She is going downhill very fast now....I really don't think she's gonna make it much longer and we are very sad
