I used to smoke several years ago, and I quit back in 1992. I found what made it hard was the feeling that I needed to be DOING something with my hands. Since I was working at the time, when I'd go to the break room, and everyone else was still smoking, I still stood with them and chatted with them. The difference was, I got a cup of water from the water cooler, and I sipped it while I chatted with them. I don't know. The hand-to-mouth movement of sipping the water kind of helped with that feeling of needing to be doing something hand to mouth.

Another thing...even though the air we were inhaling was actually smoke, I think smokers enjoy the feeling of pulling that air (smoke) in. Take the time to just think about breathing, and take some breaths of clean air. Pretend your smoking if that helps, (you can do this in private if you feel silly) but just think about the feeling of inhaling and exhaling. Don't do it too much or you'll hyperventilate!

GREAT smoking cessation program! Worked for me in 1990 after 24 years of smoking 2-3 packs/day...has also worked for others I sent there.
It covers everything! There is no cold turkey...you smoke while you quit...and it works amazingly well! (ok I dated myself...but to help someone quit smoking, it is worth it! )
The only incentive I had to quit was my son and my health. I honestly thought I loved smoking until I went through that program. Everything you think about smoking becomes a lie when you really study it with this thing.

I don't smoke, but if I did, I would not smoke in my house at all even if I had no kids or pets. I think it just stinks up everything, even the clothes in your closet. I hope your successful at quitting. It takes two years to actually stop serious craveings, but stay determind. Good luck!

I agree! My mom quit about 9years ago because she had a health scare. Now I smoke, my dad smokes, and when she's around smokers she always says "I can still pick up a cigarette till this day..." but she doesn't.

It would be a great rule if you could promise never to smoke around the little ones. Yorkies' lungs are so tiny and are so clean. I don't even like to take mine to a groomer that smokes, even though she's the best around. I'm biased because my mom smoked around me from infant to age 17, now I have incurable asthma. Yorkies lungs are even smaller. They look to us for protection.

I'm so proud of you, I can see how much you love your babies, I will keep you in my prayers, my hubby stop the day we got married and He used to smoke since he was fourteen now we have been married for 13 years and he have not smoke ones since I believe was that was the answered of my prayers, he eat a lot of Jollie ranchers though to keep his mouth busy that was in the beginning now he said he can't believe he used to smoke .

I don't like it when people smoke in front of my skin kids and I feel the same way in front of my fur kids.

Personally, when I smoked, (I have quit smoking now for 5 years) I would go outside to smoke, no matter the weather. I didnt want my skin kids to breath in or deal with the lingering smells that smoke left in our house.

So I would first suggest to smoke outside, or def. at the very least in another room.

Ps. I think it is admirable that you noticed this and want to truly do the best thing

I agree. I go outside to smoke. I don't want anyone..skin or fur kids to breathe my second hand smoke.

I have two friends that stop smoking and their skin and hair has improve so much, they even look a lot younger too
