| Thank you. My mother was going into the hospital to have open heart surgery. She couldn't smoke while in there. She asked me to give her a smoke, I told her I didn't have any. She said I wont smoke it, I just want to eat it. I laughed so hard, she was such a joker, but I truely think she meant it. My Dad passed away from emphysema. My mother 4 years later . I tried to get them to quit, but it was impossible. I believe some people can smoke without complications, not in my family. Good luck to you if you are going to try. I know it can't be easy, if it were no one would smoke.

| I'm a smoker, but I don't smoke inside my house, so if Rocky is around me and I'm smoking, were outside and he's getting fresh air so the smoke isn't going near him. My fiance wants to quit when we get our new puppy, but I don't think I'm going to be able to quit so soon. I'm sorry for all of you who lost someone to smoking. I lost my grandmother to Emphazyma (sp?). She didn't stop smoking until she was on O2 I hope I'm able to quit in the near future.

| Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I smoke & live with someone who is dying from a lung disease. I tried and tried to quit but omg it's soooo hard. I never smoke in the house - only outside....but you'd think seeing him would make me quit right ?? Nope - but I did cut way down for the dogs sake ....try to start taking it outside if you can. It sucks in the rain but that's what garages and patio covers are for lol - good luck !!

| I quit smoking -------it will be 24 yrs this October------holy carp, I am getting old! That's a full grown child out of college. Hubster has been smoke free fours years this past Feb. It was cold turkey for me, I'm an all or nothing kind of girl. Hubster it took him a couple trys----At one point the Boy Wonder sat across from him when he was 12 and cried while he said, "Mom and I just found you, I don't want you to die." We were all crying at that. We were all crying again when BW was 14 and in front of a whole crew of stagehands, hugged the Hubster and yold him how proud of him he was for reaching his first month being smoke free. It starts with a will and then you find your way. Best of luck finding your way. |

| My vet said smoking can really affect dogs adversely. Second hand smoke is even worse for them because they don't have a filter like the one smoking does. I have never smoked, but I do medical transcription and from the doctor's notes that I type the Chantix seems to be very successful if the person really wants to quit. Good luck to you! You are to be commended for thinking of your furbabies and I hope you can do it for them and for yourself.

| Nicotine addiction is exactly like alcohol addiction........no difference. Once addicted, always addicted. When you quit smoking it will be a life long commitment not to smoke. You will have to make the decision never to smoke and stick with it even though your body is craving. I don't smoke, but if I did, I would not smoke in my house at all even if I had no kids or pets. I think it just stinks up everything, even the clothes in your closet. I hope your successful at quitting. It takes two years to actually stop serious craveings, but stay determind. Good luck! |

| I was told that the smoke can irritate their eyes. Neither I nor my husband smoke but when we have visitors, they all smoke outside. Furbabies are similar to human babies. |

| I used to smoke by an open window thinking it would help but only to have the air blow the smoke back in. . Ive never been a heavy smoker but i noticed last year how the furkids looked at me. All teary eyed and with the head tilt like "mommy i dont like that",look. I felt ashamed and then they wouldnt come to me when i would call them. I havent had a cigarette since then its been a few months. I dont keep count cuz when i did i would end up smoking again. good luck quitting, the furkids dont live as long as us and it would suck to know that our bad habit would add to the shortening of their precious lives.

| LUV my 3 Furrs & Alex Donating Member | Thanks everyone for your support. Today I only had two cigarettes(from the usual ten) at the office and I was soo happy but they called me from the vet and Boo-Boo is worse now.So I had a couple more, because I was so nervous. I am trying here sooooooooooooooooo hard, but bad news do not help at all.
