| Hi Everyone, I am not sure about the sizes and all that, when I brought Sydnee home she only weighed 10 ounces. I think she has hit the 5 pound mark( my son says that she needs a diet) at almost 6 months (she will be 6 on June 16). Sydnee of course; is the take out queen of Yorkies. Plus I am not sure if she is suppose to have cheese but God help you if you are eating any of it in front of her. REVENGE is what I am talking here if you don't hand it over. Anyway, someone put a link under one of the threads and I can't find it. That calculated if your Yorkie weighed so much at a certain age what it would weigh at various ages? I have tried and tried to find it and can't. Does anyone know the link I am talking about?

| I heard that as well and I found 2 sites with charts. I don't know how right they are though http://yorkiepassion.com/growthchart.htm http://home.comcast.net/~kkingpdx/puppygrowthchart.html |

| Growth spurts This is something I have wondered about as well because an important factor to me was size. I posted just the other day that I'd like to know exactly what I am to look for because I did a year's worth of research, visited the breeder, saw the mom and dad, who were quite small, around 4-5 llbs, told the breeder what I wanted re size and my Chloe is now 7 llbs. I do recall she put on a lot during the first few months and when I contacted the breeder she told me her pups did that and then leveled off, which she did. I did the same thing with Lacey and she is barely 3 lbs at 10 months. I love them both but I want to be able to discern if I am spending my money well. By the time I realized Chloe was going to be larger, it would not have mattered, no way would I take her back. However, Lacey is a lot easier to handle, take with me, etc. Also, how is it that a lot of people on this site have larger yorkies when the "acceptable" AKC is up to 6 llbs? I'm confused. Should I be measuring noses? |

| When we got Mojito we knew he would be an average size Yorkie -- prob 5.5 to 6.5 pounds and he definitely had a growth spurt about 3 weeks after we got him. We think he might actually end up around 7 pounds but we couldn't be happier. I grew up with two Yorkies -- one on the smaller side (about 4-4.5 pounds) and the other a few pounds heavier but they were the perfect size for us. When my husband and I started looking, I knew I'd be more comfortable with a bigger pup. I think so many people have gotten sucked into this whole "teacup" marketing ploy and believe that all Yorkies should be tiny. The AKC site actually states that a Yorkie's weight should not exceed 7 pounds. To my knowledge, the average weight range for them is around 4-7 pounds. Big, small, in-between -- they're all wonderful and steal the hearts of their moms, dads and all who are lucky enought to come into contact with them!!! |
