| Dog tag warning I had to go to the bank, so I took Jake with me. The teller just loved him, and she told me a little story about something that happened to her niece. She had a yorkie and had a cute dog tag with her name and address on it. She took her to a park for a walk, and people were stopping to see her. One man who was also walking a yorkie was paying alot of attention to the dog and petting it, etc. About 3 days later, her yorkie was missing. It had been stolen from inside her house when she was at work. Her whole neighborhood was helping her to keep a look out for her. A friend of the niece was walking through the park with her dog and noticed a man with two yorkies. She struck up a conversation with him, talking about his dogs, and she said he seemed nervous. At first, she thought maybe he just didn't want her touching the dogs. She was trying to see if one of them might be the missing one. She told the man about the stolen yorkie, and she said he acted even more nervous. So, she went back and told the niece and the niece notified the police. A few days later, the police brought her dog back to her! They had caught the man because the yorkie had been microchipped. He admitted stealing it, and was going to use her for breeding! I thought I'd post that here so everyone knows to be careful. Also, be careful when you post pics because the police also told her that people post pictures of their dogs online and the tag shows. All anyone has to do is enlarge the picture to get the address. It's sad that there are people out there like that, but I was glad to hear that the yorkie was returned safely! |

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | That is SO sick!! What a jerk. I'm glad she got her dog back safely. On our dog's tags, we don't have our address. We just have our town, state, and phone number.

I agree. I had Jake's name, address and phone number put on it, thinking that if he ever got lost, someone could contact me or return him. I'm thinking about getting a different one with just his name and phone number. It's ridiculous that we have to be concerned about stuff like that! | |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Makes you want to slap those people around who would even CONSIDER doing such a horrible thing, doesn't it?! Never fails to amaze me how something good can be perverted to a lowly use, even an item as mundane as an ID tag! As someone who would have loved to have had some of that information while trying to reunite a wayward Yorkie with his humans a few weeks ago, these are the kinds of reports that unfortunately will discourage people from putting tags on their dogs. Definitely at least include a name and phone number! I was lucky because I was actively looking for the little guy's owners and found them within a few hours. I know a lot of times you hear about dogs being returned day or weeks later, if at all. |

| I would recommend you use a cell phone number. Anyone can use reverse lookup online to find your address if you use your home number. Thanks for the post I never thought about this before. Luckily I use my cell number on the boys tags.
