| Probably a Stupid Question...sorry! ....Girl Pee probs when excited What do y'all recommend for this? I have a female dog that that when she gets excited (coming around new people or going over to someone else's house), she pees. I also have to let a neighbor keep my doggies in 2 weeks. I am worried about this couple keeping them, b/c of the peeing. What do I do? Is this where I buy panties/diapers for a girl dog....and ask the people keeping them to put them on her everyday?? And I guess I'd need to put the diaper/panties on her whenever around new people/places?? I have a bellyband for my male. He doesn't wear it at home, but wants to mark at others' houses. the female dog, I got this past Tuesday. Just trying to see what all of you pro's recommend! Thanks. Sorry if this is a stupid question. Also, does anyone recommend any type brand panties/diaper for a female dog? Thanks again. |

| It is not a dumb question, it is actually quite common. It is called excitable urination or submissive urination. What you need to do is take her outside or to the pad right before someone comes over if you can. And when someone comes over to your house, have them completley ignore her until she calms down. You can put the diaper on her if you want to prevent her from peeing on the carpet but it won't train her. I have had few dogs that did this and they do outgrow it but you really have to ignore them when they are excited. My cocker spaniel was really bad at this. Everytime someone would come over she would get so excited and roll over on her back for them to rub and her belly and then she would pee all over self. So I had everyone who came over ignore her for the first 15 minutes so she would calm down and finally be able to be petted in a calm matter. She did outgrow it and hasn't had any problems for years. I hope this helps, good luck with your girl!!

| Thanks so much. My mom's Pomeranian has always done this, too. When I go back home to visit my mom, Gidget the Pom gets sooo excited and ALWAYS pees!! So as soon as I get home, I go get overly-excited-Gidget and direct her outside to pet/greet her, so at least she pees outside. Unfortunately she stays excited and will continue to pee a few more times. I hate to ignore her, as I will hate for MY dog to be ignored...so sad b/c she is so happy.....but yes, I guess I need to train her better than I am doing. you are right. Thanks so much!! I hope ignoring her pays off. It's just annoying to have to clean up the pee anytime I go w/ her to a friend's house or leave her anywhere. But maybe it'll improve. she's a great dog, so it could be worse, I know....jsut checking on potential solutions. Thanks so much!! |

| Maggie does that with me. I ended up picking her up over a pee pad or ignore her until we go outside. It's bad, if my husband holds her and I talk or pet her she pees.
