Missing Yoshi Everyday! Donating Member | Welcome to YT...to answer your question...it is best to wait until her 2nd heat to breed her...but there are a lot of things you must consider before breeding her. You must check her bloodline to make sure there are no defects along the way...you must be prepare to lose her in case she has a difficult pregnancy/whelp etc...before you beginning breeding i suggest that you read up on as much as possible about breeding, whelping, yorkshire terriers and everything in between..hope that helps!

| A dogs heat can vary from 1 week to longer. I don't have a recommendation on the breeding timeline however. I do agree with others to please make sure you are being a responsible breeder by checking your dogs pedigree (lines) for any health issues. I strongly feel that breeding should not be done unless it is to enhance the breed we love. Make sure your female is of good size and not too small, make sure you also know the pedigree of the male. Please, just make sure you do your research before you begin to breed your baby. Good Luck, kathy |

| Jolie's heat last arround two to three weeks. As to needing anything other than a diaper no you don't need anything speical. For breeding you shouldn't breed before their second year. Before that and the dog is too you no matter what breed it is. They are still growing even if their size doesn't change. Male should be 18 months before they are breed for the first tume. I hope this helps. |

| Welcome to YT!! Don't know of any Yorkie breeding sites or books, but we used Debbie Jensons site its www.debbiejensons.com she has a wealth of information. She breeds shzi tzu's (I know I didn't spell correctly),lol, Try this site and just apply most of what she says to Yorkies. Her site helped us when Dori was in heat and whelping along with some valuable members/breeders here on YT....Good luck
