| Looking for Good Answers for Weird Question So, I have been discovering these weird black dandruff (sp) kind of mini balls on Roscoe's head...They are especially around his eye brows and in between his eyes...I first thought that they may be lice or fleas but I had his vet checked and he said it was neither...he said it's not a big deal but the question is still unanswered...what are these??? anybody had the same problem? when i give him a bath, they go away but 3-4 days after there they are...i pick on them and try to remove them but there are too many of them...they are like little black dandruffs...anybody has any ideas? also, i have been realizing that Roscoe's face smells just horrible...every morning i wipe his face with puppy wipes and also after work...otherwise, the smell is unbelievable...i got his ears and eyes checked and everything seems to be normal but i cannot find the cause of the smell...the smell is mostly on his fur around his mouth...his teeth are fine as well...any ideas? how do you all wash your baby's face?

| Wow, I have no idea what this might be. My first thought was that maybe there is a black blanket in your house that he may be getting lint or something from, but when you spoke of the bad smell, I just dont know???? Good luck and I hope that you will get some good answers here. For the heck of it Im going to google and see what I can find....I will let you know. good luck.

| If it is flea dirt, then I'd be looking for another Vet. pronto!!!! My Vet. would have had the proper diagnosis and treatment before I even left the office. If by chance that is flea dirt, then put your baby in a tub, coat him down in either olive oil or Avons SSS bath oil, comb the hair out really good and shampoo in Dr. Bronners liquid castile soap (eucalyptus) and make sure you rinse extrememly well, then add 20 drops of eucalyptus oil into 16 oz. of conditioner and mix well. Rub into the hair and rinse. If your baby does have that many fleas, then please take a poop sample to a Vet. to have tested for worms. Chances would be great that your baby would have worms also. I do hope you get this all taken care of soon, because fleas can zap the life out of young puppies and put their health at great risk. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I was thinking flea dirt too - look very carefully on his tummy - near the groin area and part the hair on his head to look - do it in sunlight if possible - you can see way better - Edited to add - the funny smell on his face could be from teeth problems - does he have retained baby teeth ??? My girls faces smell yummy to me - but when Cheri was a baby and had extra teeth it made her face smell not so good

| thanks to you all! I am currently at work but I will go ahead and take a closer look at Roscoe's head... He just got dewormed last week and he also got his first fleas, tics medicine (Frontline) last week as well...Do you think fleas are gone by now? I will give him a bath today and hopefully there will no more be disgusting looking blackies on his head... For his teeth, he has good teeth over all and the smeel does not come from his motuh...It's the fur that surrounds his mouth...I dont know how to explain... Anyways please pray that the fleas will be gone for good and my baby will be a clean and nice puppy once again! Love, Isil

| ? Yes could be flea dirt but is it at all slimmy? If so it could be a fungus that yorkies can get. The other could be that he has developed an allergy to his food, by-products are bad for that and so are alot of other things if your not using a high quality dog food. Also, I clean my yorkies faces with a tearless shampoo and use a very soft tooth brush to wask around the eyes, nose & mouth. |
