| I have no clue what happened either...but we need to always remember to respect everyones opinion, no matter how absurd it does sound to us. It is their right...and of course, the admin, we owe him our "best behavior" I personally never felt ofended by anything or anyone here...i hope i never ofended anybody either:P If i did, sorry, i did not mean to.. Thats all i have to say, i mean...type..

| Hey y'all Not to belabor this thread but, I've been busy this morning and I'm on California time too, so I just saw this thread after last night and would like to, hopefully, explain a few things and help "clear the air" as Kristy is attempting to do with this thread. First, to Mojo, Laura, Hannah and anyone else wondering about the phrase "Don't foget the donuts", as Kristy said, it was a phrase that was developed (I cannot remember the exact member who suggested it) when a thread got off topic and we were trying to come up with a "friendly cue" to get posters back on topic. Some forums use "troll alert" or "Don't Feed the Trolls" or "Silent treatment" or such, but we felt those were mean and we wanted something less harsh. Secondly, if you are wondering if you are one of the new members referred to in this discussion in a negative way as "troublemakers", etc., then you are not. They know who they are and you would too if you were one, trust me on that. The great majority of the new members here are just that, NEW MEMBERS, and they are wonderful, fun, open minded and great. Bettyanne- You are so wise and have been here the longest and I admire and trust your knowledge. I hope you are right that the (I hate this word but it seems to be accepted in the internet forum world) Trolls will leave and go someplace else real soon so we can return to the friendly, non adversarial forum that we all love. Or, in the alternative, that they decide to stay but realize that this forum will not put up with the negative behavior and they will stop it and keep their posts as friendly, civil and respectful as possible. DivaPup- What can I say? You seem to be upset with the use of the "donut phrase" which is totally anonymous and nonsensical, not meant to offend or harm anyone, but you are okay with "troll alert", "Don't feed the trolls", "Troll hunt", "Invisible users", "common denominator", "silent treatment", "pot stirrer". I have seen these phrases used in the past and they are negative and hurtful and definitely meant to offend. YT is a friendly place and we want to keep it that way. That's all. There is no conspiracy or PM crusade going on either. All new members are not PM'd and "warned". I think you are being a little too defensive and over reacting to this attempt to stop the negativity. Missy's Mom- I am so glad you do not "usually read threads that are controversial or that have any negativity", and that you "never post to them". Threads with titles like "Invisible Users" may be construed as negative by some and we can learn from you and try to stay away from such negativity and not add to it whenever possible. Hickey007- I know that admin does not like us to discuss other forums and I try very hard to respect that rule, but this is a very small yorkie world and so many members here are members on other forums as well. Some are new forums, some old, some still in existence, some gone, some small, some large and some dying. I have only been on these forums for a few months but I have done my research and gone back and read the old posts on the major forums and I know a great deal about the history as told by those threads and others who have shared their knowledge of the past with me, and there is always discussion on all forums about other forums. It would not be naural for there not to be. It's human nature to compare one to another. That is all I will say. LvMyYorki- Your suggestion about sending PMs would be a good one except that then it is criticized, as it was here, as a conspiracy and something done in secret or you are accused of harassment. I think most of us know when it is more appropriate to have private discussions rather than public ones and so we have to ignore the complaints about "PM conspiracies" and just follow our intuition and act appropriately for the circumstances. It is never apporpriate to harass someone IMO. Brooke- I really don't think you have been at all out of line in your "advertising". Of course I knew you before your online store existed, but you are very subtle and so helpful. In fact, you are always complimenting and referring your competitors when they have something new so I think we all know that your main focus here is your fur babies. I think admin has had to fine tune the rules on advertising and selling in the recent past and you have been very good about complying with those changes from what I have seen. There, I'm done. Gonna go find some fun threads to read and photos of beautiful fur babies to smile at!! Last edited by SoCalyorkiLvr; 05-31-2005 at 11:13 AM. |

Which comes full circle to what Kristy said when she started this thread. Just read the rules and some posts and act accordingly and it's all good! | |

| Wow, I go to lunch and I come back to this? Well, I wanted to say that the idea of this post wasn't to offend anyone or single anyone out. I didn't construct this post based solely on my own opinion/observations, but rather from chatting with a number of other members who voiced the concerns I brought up in the original post and also from reading about all of the fights and accusations that are going on within YT. There ARE people who join YT to advertise. I definitely don't think its Brooke or Jodi -- you guys have great stores. And Jodi - you helped me try to get those dogs away from that evil woman and raise money. I really like both of you a lot and think you are both awesome YT members (but who the hell am I to judge anyway?) All you have to do is click on a user's public profile and view "find more posts by this member" or whatever and you can see for yourself who they are. I am definitely not offended by recommending a store of some sort. I recommend PetEdge to people probably once a week in my posts; they have great prices and I am a broke student. I am also not afraid to post on a thread where someone is selling a shirt or something for $20 and I saw it somewhere else for $4. I would want someone to do it for me. I think that's all. Thanks for reading.

| All I can say with regard to what was addressed to me is that I have never used the term "PM conspiracies." If you would go back and read my post you would see that I was talking about the public post that started the problem with the contest. If someone had a problem with Pheobe joining just to vote, then rather than making Villette feel bad, a pm couldve been sent to this person or to Admin about it. As far as PMs being sent to members about other members with regards to "warning" them about other member.... I have the emails and PMs that were sent! I don't think you want to go there. There are several members of YT that have been contacted! I have never seen Diva Pup post anything about a troll or troll alert or a post by Jennette about Invisible Users...it seems like you are the one that is bringing things up on YT that don't belong here! Why do you say you want to get along and let things go, but then jump on every single person's post??? If you really want to get along and let it go, then why dont you when you have the chance?

| Oh and I also wanted to thank Jodi and Brooke for their generous discounts (though I have yet to use them because I am saving to pay for summer school) and whomever else has offered discounts or donated to the YT 50k/100k post giveaways.

You couldnt just let it go could you? I am not "upset" with the term donuts, I just thought it was stupid. As far as you being called a troll , troll alert , and all the other troll stuff on another forum, if you go back and read all of that I do not believe I participated in that. Why? because I thought it was stupid then too. I do think there are such people that go on forums to stir up trouble, there is a whole website about the personality of the "troll" so i guess they are real. I cannot imagine why someone would get their jollies doing that but whatever does it for you. As far as the term sirring the pot, well, we wont even go there. but when my mother used it in conversation with my sister and I I certainly do not remember being hurt or offended. It is a common saying just pointing out what someone is doing to not let a subject be defused. Kind of like this post. |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | I don't know what's going on here, but I'll have my little say and leave it at that! I've never received a PM warning me about anyone. What I see is a group of Yorkie owners that are proud of their babies. We share stories and give advice. With the exception of the occasional minor debate, I think that this is a great forum. I've learned ALOT from the more experienced Yorkie owners and have recommended this site to a few of my yorkie owner friends. If I see something that offends me, I ignore them. Why drag it out? If you reply to a thread with the same offense that was given to you, it just goes on and on and on....... I love everyone here on this site. I think there are some wonderful people here and really do not like to see stuff like this. |

| I am *SO* sick of hearing about "other forums". Please stop! It is possibly the most annoying thing I have encountered in a long time.

Why even mention my name? Are you irritated because I stood up for DivaPup? I see you defend people quiet often, I do it once and I am on your "list"
