| What a great thread Not only do I feel like a know it all, I sometimes can't stop talking about yorkies to people that don't even have one If it wasn't for Yt, I would probably be banned from all public gatherings as I would have no where else to share all my knowledge ( well learned) and ask all my questions, dumb as heck sometimes. God bless us all, and God bless our fur babies

| Oh boy do I agree with you guys.I come off as a know it all most of the time when I talk to people I don't know and sometimes my family.I have been resaerching this breed for over a year before I came to yt.and even then it didn't keep me from purchasing a yorkie who is too long, high in the rear, bad coat, retained testicles, and god only knows what else.I waited till he was 4mths to get him.book knowledge and people advice is good but I tell you hands on will win out 10to10 every time.I love my little guy but I can't bear buying another that will not meet my standards let alone the breed standard.I have two cousins who have yorkies and they will tell you they knew nothing about the breed just liked them a bought one and thiers are turning out way nicer than mine.chuck that up for a know it all read everything.breakes my heart.I have spoken to a few show breeders and they were so nice to me and willing to talk about yorkies but to get one from them was another story.look I just wanted a beautiful quality yorkie. spay/neuter them before they go and you know who is serious or not. |

| oh thank GOD someone knows how i feel... i find it isn't so much with Yorkies as when someone wants to talk dog food... sometimes i can get through to them that what they are feeding is crap.. but usually i can't and i just give up.. i find myself being a "know it all" when someone mentions that they have a teacup or they ask if layla is a teacup... but some people there is just no changing their minds.. they think THEY know it all.. so i try and let it go but boy does it irk me... some people have NO clue what they are talking about! |

| I totally know what you mean. It drives me nuts how some people who don't really like dogs are getting Yorkies because they think its the "in" thing to do. Then, you see them making all of these rookie mistakes in terms of upbringing and training. I just try to hold my tongue and pray that the dog won't be neglected and left alone when its owner gets tired of it and moves onto another trend. |

| LOL...yes, I know what you mean. What's even worse is when you are talking to someone who thinks they know it all and you realize they don't know ANYTHING. (i.e. "I have a teacup." and my 2 faves I actually heard once "Yorkies were named after pudding" and "they are born with short tails" |

I do feel like I know it all sometimes I had a friend that takes not-so-good care of his basenji and I'm constantly correcting him on what he should and should not do... I don't feel bad though because I'm more concerned about the dog's well-being than whether or not my friend will be offended by what he *needs* to hear. Their last pet died way before her time because she has sooo many issues from being fed lots of table scraps, including obesity. If someone has that kind of history, they're going to get an earful from me!

| Um, I did feel a little weird yesterday when I met a lady who heard I had a yorkie that was small. She said she had a 10 pound one that she paid $700 for. I said, "oh, you have a teapot". I felt like a big ol' dork trying to explain it.
