Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | ANOTHER 'make you go hmmmmm' Not THAT kind of hmmmmm ....This kind ! If anyone watches Navy NCIS.....Part of the show is when the boss SMACKS the cute dude on the back of the head to get his attention ? That's what I wanted to do here ! I took a run to Petco - I always stop and look at 3 things - Chews...treats and clothes - always clothes. I walk towards this rack where the loose clothes are hanging, and there was a MAN holding a lab type baby puppy - He was looking at clothes and trying them on his dog.... So I'm admiring his puppy and looking at the coats he was holding - as I pet his puppy - I see TONS of fleas on this poor baby ! I gulped and refrained from asking him "Dude....ARE YOU INSANE ? Are you trying to invade Houston with more FLEAS" ? but I kept those comments to myself....that poor puppy had to be miserable...why anyone would LET Fleas get that bad is beyond me... as I stepped back I said - "If you don't mind me helping here - they SELL FLEA TREATMENT here and you may want to get some today - your puppy is infested" ....this genuis looked at his puppy and said "I Know....I'm going to get some" Ok...good answer .... I felt like saying "WHEN ?" but I asked him if he needed help finding it. ....now - it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that IF FLEAS spread through contact - WHY was THIS Idiot trying on clothes for his puppy while it had fleas ? I don't know if Fleas live on clothing and can be passed this way - but I sure am NOT buying clothes unless they're in a package that hasn't been opened ! Just wanted to give everyone a heads up - this is probably not the only genius who has done this....lucky a Petco lady heard me and hustled this guy to the Isle with flea stuff but jeeeesh ...talk about stupid !

| Villette, good catch and thank heavens for that Petco employee who was doing her job. Kudos to you also for speaking to the guy about it. I think I'd ask them next time I'm there how they handle that situation. Fleas jump off on all kinds of things. If they jumped on the clothes they wouldn't live long without a food supply so I guess they'd jump onto the next dog or person who happened along?? Not sure. My daughter has a key chain that I love, it says: "I see dumb people", of course she is the queen of sarcasm, LOL!

| Thanks!! I never thought of that ... Patrick is the world's worst for trying little things on Toto! I never minded, just figured everyone has little "pristine" babies like ours!! I have seen pet owners in PetCo & PetSmart and wondered how they could possibly let their little babies be on the floor because of so many kinds of germs but never thought about parasites!! We always give Toto her "treatment" during warm months even though she very seldom ever gets a flea. Duhhhhhhhhhh! Thanks, again ... I will certainly keep that in mind!

| He sounds like he may be related to the people whom took the KC pup over to Dawn's. I guess people just at time don't think. It was either he didn't know of he didn't care. Does make you think about trying anything on your own dog, doesn't it. I think I'll no longer do it.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | That is SO CUTE that Patrick trys clothes on Toto !! My hubby loves seeing mine dressed but has never put on or taken off anything - One day I left really early when it was chilly.... and it got REALLY hot by the time I made it home - poor Cheri still had her jammies on ! Duh ! That really freaked me out seeing that puppy - I cringed at the few things I had bought in the past NOT in a package - Maybe online shopping really IS the way to go ! |

You reminded me of a joke ...This jerk tells this poor overweight woman ..."Hey lady - Ever hear of Jenny Craig ? you sure could lose a few" ...and she answers back..."Hey dude...I'm way ahead of you - I can always lose weight - but STUPID is forever" !

I feel so badly for that puppy that you saw in Petco with the fleas or any dog with fleas and an owner making no effort to get them treated!! In my opinion ... this is abuse and animal cruelty! They can't help getting fleas and they certainly can't do anything about it themselves.

| Oh, ICK!!! Some people really are dense, huh? I don't like to buy clothes online because I want to be sure they fit. The only things I have bought have been items where I give measurements, and they are made specifically for my dogs, you know? But to think that my kids could get fleas or other ickies from them, UGH! Then again, I guess I could get head lice or ringworm or something trying on clothes for myself, so what are you going to do? |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I know !! For the health of any puppy fleas need to be treated ASAP - they suck their blood and cause anemia and they can die from it - not to mention worms etc that can also arise from infestation - it's very dangerous in young puppies and that man totally pi--sed me off seeing all those fleas on that poor puppy - Why he was looking at COATS was beyond me...I saw ONE flea on Chanel when we got her and went NUTS treating everything - |

| Yes Villett, I don't know where these people have their brains. Poor little guy to have all those fleas. Even to give him the benfit of doubt, if he just got the puppy, I still would have taken him home for a flea bath first! Not to try clothes on I have always wondered about the same think with people, I am not one to try hats on in the stores for the same reason ...Theresa & The Boys |

| I would be ashamed to take my dogs anywhere with fleas. We treat all the time (but I hate bugs in general). I just do the frontline monthly. I am sorta worried about Zoe with the babies, it is treatment time on the first - I am not planning to flea her then. Fleas are bad here (dallas), though, especially after a nice warmish winter. But to remember dumb - I had a neighbor who went shopping with her human daughter when she had chicken pox. It got all over me. I knew another girl who's son was fighting leukemia at the time. It is not fair to expect everyone to have to suffer along with you. Back to dogs, I like to keep two tags on the pups - rabies and name tags. It clues me in whenever they scratch to see what's up. That clinking drives me batty and forces me into action.

| I would be freaking out! But I am a flea nut!!! If I see one everything has to be treated. I have had them bad before and they are miserable to get rid of. We usually treat our yard and haven't so far this year so I hope that doesn't make us get them. I'm afraid treating the yard will make my pups sick.
