my littel boy got hurt..please help.. my 1.5 yo. boy got neck injury...he dose not walk or stand on his own we are not able to afford surgery for him and we dont know what to do anymore..hes on meds and improving a little but not much...maybe anyone had same problem and can tell me what to do..iam afraid he will never walk again...i also heard about care card just have no idea where do i apply...thanks |
the only thing i can suggest is immediate medical attention but you say that is out of the question. i doubt there is anything more that will help - unless or until a doctor looks at him and tells you otherwise. there are alot of wise ladies on the board and i am sure they will agree. i have learned alot from them! |
Did you take him to the vet? What did he say? What meds? I'm so sorry about your baby. |
I'm sorry he got hurt so seriously - have you looked into financial aid...you can try these people - they do write back - www.imom.org |
also, contact several vets/vet hospitals. Some will work out a payment plan for you. Another option would be to contact yorkie rescues. You would have to surrender your little guy, but they would raise the funds for the surgery, find him a new home and he could lead a healthy life. It would break your heart, but be better than not helping him or putting him down. I don't know if any would take him, but it'd be worth a try. |
I would hold a huge garage sale to raise money for the operation. Have a big jar on a table with the reason your collecting money, and him in your lap. People give very generously when it's for a fur-kid. |

I am so sorry to hear about your tragedy. I pray that you find the funds you need to take care of him. Please be sure to keep us informed. |
Your vet should be able to tell you where to apply for this card...If not, call a big vet hospital in your area and ask them, they will tell you where to apply for it and how you can get it. Good luck! I will be praying for your baby...Try doing physical therapy with him...Little by little. I know there is a member on here that made a wheelchair type thing for her yorkie, and does physical therapy for him. She puts him in the tub and helps him. |
Oh I am so sorry, I hope you can find the funds somehow soon. I think the garage sale is a great idea! I will keep you in my prayers and hope you find comfort soon. |
where in NY are you and who is your vet? |
the surgery is $5000 that will include everything but they are telling me that there is no 100% he will be ok after...we spend alot of money going from vet to vet...we are family of 5 (me ,my hysband ,13 month old baby girl and two yorkies)..my husband dose not work due to work injury so iam the only one working full time and makind ends meet...i do my best for the puppy right now..he is like newborn..he waik up every 2 h iam taking care for him 24/7..he is showing some improvment and i hope he will recover without surgery since its just immpossible for us to afford...please pray for him.. |
What kind of surgery is your vet wanting to do and what meds is he on? I hope he gets better. |

My gosh I am so sorry How did it happen? Did the vet say he may recover with out surgery? |
Did your vet give a diagnosis yet? It sounds like a possible case of AAS. What info can you give about the injury. I have been through the whole ordeal of AAS so I may be of help to you. Let us know. Lorraine |
How did it happen? How was your poor baby hurt? How did it happen? |
I seen 5 diffrent vets ovet the week my old vet was an a** so i transfer my paper work to my new vet who is the best vet i ever met...she gave me hope..he is on dexamethasone 0.25 twice a day and pepcid ac to protect his stomach...he stat moving his back legs ..there is slight improvment and i hope he will get better...i cant afford to see specialist anymore and they told me if i cant afford surgery i should put him to sleep...its not an option..he dose not suffer...he's on pain meds and looks comfy..iam not putting my dog to sleep bc some vet told me to do so...iam not giving up on him that easy...garage sale is nice its just i dont really have nothing to sale...i dont have garage..lol...thanks anyway |
I pray for your little boy. Is he in a lot of pain? Perhaps it would be best to call a Yorkie rescue to get help the quickest so that he doesn't suffer. Maybe a YT member near you in New York could help to find the number? |
Where in NY are you located? |
Aww hope everything turns out okay so that he won't have to get surgery! |
I have heard amazing results with accupuncture on dogs with back and neck injuries. Some on a dachshund list I was on couldn't afford surgery and went this route and now there dog is running and walking once again! It will still be expensive, but not like the surgery! Hope this helps! So sorry your boy was hurt. |
Please don't give up hope. There is a Specialist in Small Dog Surgery - Her name is Dr. Laura Hinton, at the Center for Specialized Vet Care in Westbury, NY (Long Island - Exit 41 on the LIE) Here is the website: http://www.vetspecialist.com/index.p...VC2&number=100 I do beleive they have special programs to help those in need who don't have the means. They have FAITH: http://www.foranimalsinthehospital.com/ I also believe they have that 'card' you referred to. Please give Dr. Hinton a call and see if there's any way she can help or guide you in the right direction. This is a wonderful Hospital - Highly recommeded, they also do so many things (donation, fundraisers, etc.) for sheltered animals. It's worth a shot to check them out! Please keep us poted :) |
sorry that this happend it is very sad. I would try for the care credit or see if a vet will work with you. this baby has no quality life laying paralyzed i know it's hard but if you can't get him the surgery you should really consider putting him to sleep it would ease his suffering.:( |
I hate to be the skeptic here but why isnt this person answering any of our questions? Makes me think all isnt what it seems to be but I could be wrong. I hope there really is a puppy and this isnt what I think it is. |

The people on this site are caring, wonderful ppl and have a wealth of information to offer - but not to someone looking to scam. |

I thought that very same thing as soon as I saw the first post. I hope it isn't that way though. I would love to be more help but I'm kinda leary. I just wasnt going to say anything, thinking maybe I would get bashed for even thinking that way. But since someone else said it for me, I have to say I agree. |
