I understand it is hard some time to make ends meet.
I work 2 jobs to keep my Momiji healthy and well taken care of. (But sometime I should just stay home on Saturday and Sunday just for her.....)

You really have your hands full. I am sending prayer's that your little makes it and can lead a normal life. YT prayer's are known to very powerfull.

thanks some much for the offer...i did take him to the specialist alredy the next day he got hurt...and i was there twice...they told me about the tests and cost...iam going to care for him and see if he gets better...the surgery is expensive and iam not sure the care card will give me that much credit....

Did they say he could heal on his own? Or do they feel surgery is the only way?

well there is hance he will get better as there is a chence will not be ok after surgery...you know they will never give 100%...he is gettinh better...i see improment...he is moving his legs and his not in pain anymore...so thanks for everything

hi everyone...thank you for your support and prayers...Tahoe is doing little better and i spoke to another specialist who told me that there is a chance he will recover but it will take time...so i feel better and i got more hope ...i heard about many dogs that vets said they will never walk again without surgery and they did...one thing i dont like about my exp. from all this is people telling me to give my puppy up to the rescue...is that goinna make it better that makes me a bad person and bad mommy to my dog...i know they may raise money for surgery or not....never know..and what about if ge gets adopted to a family that will not treat him nice,what then...i would never forgive myself...its like getting rid of him right after he got sick...no that is not me...iam doing everything i can to make him happy and better...all i ask for is prayer and some info maybe anybody had the same exp..its really not proper for people to call my vet and ask about my dog..i feel that its not right..and if you do want to call her just ask me...so thanks again..and one more think iam new here and dont really know how to post a pic of him...i have some pics of my dogs in my gallery ....thanks agan:) :aimeeyork :animal36 :animal-pa

Everyone just wants whats best for Tahoe.

As Yorkie Moms, we all would do whatever it takes to protect our babies. If surgery was an option, even if there's only a 1% chance, I'd do whatever it takes to get my baby surgery. I have been to many Vets and many Specialists here on Long Island, they are all willing to "Work Something Out" = Payment Plans

Again even if there was a 1% chance, I would be getting my baby surgery.

Also, if for some reason I just could not afford payment plans, well them, as hard as it would be, Yes I would contact a Yorkie Rescue to take my baby and raise money for his surgery. I would not worry about down the road adoptions, they do proper screening to make sure he would never wind up in the wrong hands.

Prays do wonders, but in some cases, surgery and constant medical care and rehab is a MUST. And again, I would not be selfish will my babies health and well being. I would do whatever it takes to get the proper medical care.
There are so many wonderful Vets here on Long Island too - That's the great part about being a New Yorker :)

* Also, when Roxy had her surgery for her legs, she was on pain meds for at least 3 weeks, I hope that Tahoe is getting the proper meds.

Amen! If my girls desperately needed medical care to help them live healthy, normal lives I would do everything in my power to get the care they needed. If everything in my power wasn't good enough, I'd find someone that could do for them.

I am keeping Tahoe in my prayers.

If there was something wrong with one of my furbabies I would def. do anything in my power to make sure they have the best care. I wish you luck with Tahoe and hope everything turns out better.

i'm glad to hear you are doing everything you possible can for your baby. I know care credit doesn't always give the most money. We had a case in hospital today where the dog had a broken leg, and chest trauma, and the people couldn't really afford treatment. They applied for care credit and they only gave them $1000, which would basically only cover overnight stay, blood work, x-rays, and emergency care. It would not cover the fracture repair and possible diaphramatic hernia repair.

So people i think you need to be more supportive of what she is trying to do for her dog. She is trying to help her but not everybody can afford the thousands and thousands of dollars treatment costs. no body gets a dog expecting it to get a expensive injury in the future. I also agree that it was very rude for someone to call this person's vet to find out what she was doing for her dog. how would you like it if someone did that to you? put yourself in her situation, how would you feel if you just came on a site asking for advise and then had people doubt you and do checks on your personal information and care options. the vet also shouldn't have given you any information.

I feel everyone is being supportive! The ONLY important issue is Tahoe!! I have offered to help by donating funds, find other vet options, assist in any way I can including help find a rescue IF that is the only option left to help Tahoe. I spoke to the clinic b/c I wanted to find out how to donate funds so Tahoe could get the care he needed - not to pry into her personal business. I did NOT ask about what the owner was doing - just how best to care for Tahoe.

How would I feel if I came for advise and everyone sent prayers, offered to set up donations or hold sales or help me find other vets or rescues that could help my dog - I'd be grateful!

I just think that nobody but the owner of the animal in question should call the vet and ask about its treatment/status/care/financial status without permission of the owner. its an invasion of privacy.

I couldn't agree more. Tahoe's well being is the most important issue right now. I too have offered many helpful suggestions and information. I have gone out of my way to provide her with enough resources and choices for the well being of Tahoe. I don't doubt for a second that she LOVES Tahoe. I just truly hope and pray that she does the right thing for his recovery, she has a handful of routes to choose from...

The owner posted that she was looking for information and made numerous statements about her financial situation and was looking for guidance/help. she posted that her vet was telling her that the surgery was going to cost $5000 but she didnt have the funds. I did NOT call her clinic and ask about her financial status - I didnt have too since owner posted her situation, I just offered to help! I did NOT ask for any personal information, nor was I given any.
My intentions were only to help Tahoe.

I believe 100% in prayer...God will guide you, and hopefully you'll be guided to a place that will be able to provide the surgery for your baby.

I don't think she called the clinic with intentions to find out personal info about Tahoe's owner. She was trying to help, and was curious if the clinic knew anything about that card to help tahoe.
And everyone knows that it is so easy to be scammed on the internet, and you often have to question someone's credibilty.
I personally don't think she meant to cause problems but meant to try and offer more options to have tahoe treated.
We all come to this site for one thing, and that is because of our love for the yorkies... we would do anything to protect our furbabies and anyone elses if given the chance.
So lets turn this thread around and focus on the real issue and that is trying to come up with a solution to help poor tahoe.
I'm willing to help out if anyone has any suggestions.

Tahoe's Mom has posted a lot of information, regarding how many Vets, what they think, what costs are, pain meds, her struggles and her family. She came here for advise and we are all giving great information to her, we are supporting her and we are trying to understand her decisions and hope that they will benefit for Tahoe.

I understand that surgery is very expensive, believe me, I have my own Yorkie surgeries. But this is not a broken leg, or an allergy. Tahoe is Paralized - this is extremely serious. I have also offered my opions as to what I would do if this were my dog - this is something I would not just wait to see day by day if he gets better. I would be vomitting non-stop, crying non-stop but most importantly, I would be trying to find a way to get him the medical attention he needs in this critical time frame (and I would do what ever it takes).

I agree, She came here looking for advice and prayers. Not for people to call and question her vet. What right does anyone have to do that?
I can see wanting to make sure of the dogs condition if you are helping in paying the vet bill or something like that , But even then asking her for permission first.
I posted a few days ago about both of mine needing vet care and I asked for prayers and needed a shoulder to lean on too. But I would of been very upset if someone did this to me.

well i spoke with my vet right after you called...you told the you are from yorkie rescue and you just want info about his health...you never told me you are offering a donation and i never asked for any money...after all its my puppy and i just need advice not people calling my vet...please i dont need this right now...you dont know me..if you only ask me if its ok to call my vet...

wanted to add Ill be praying for your baby and I hope he gets the care he needs to recover. I know its hard when theres no money, I too had to use a credit card. So I do understand where your coming from. but he sounds like he needs help asap and If you think hes in any kind of pain Please take him back and ask if they can set up a payment plan. Like I have said before, I will continue to pray for Tahoe and I will continue to pray that Tahoe's Mom does the right thing by him. I have offered extremely helpful advise to Tahoe's Mom, I was more than generous with the information I gave her. I can't preach anymore. I will continue to check for updates on Tahoe, but I will keep my comments, opinions and preaches to myself.

Tahoe's Mom, I meant everything I have said to you. If you need me to help out with getting you more information and more choices, then please ask and I would be glad to. I just want the best for Tahoe and I truly hope he gets it.

I think it is horrible to critisize SimplyYorkies for calling the vet. Tahoe's mom SAID to call the vet to get info about Tahoe to make sure it was not a scam. I'm not sure why it is such a contreversy. SimplyYorkies seems like a generous and wonderful person whose upmost concern is Tahoe, just like everyone else here.

I have to agree completely. SimplyYorkies has gone beyond just praying, she has given Tahoe's Mom so much helpful information, resources and offered assistance in all sort of ways.

I have to be honest with you all, I too have been offering help, support, assitance etc to Tahoe's Mom and to be honest, she wasn't really happy with any of it. She has posted all of information on this thread regarding a whole bunch of stuff. Some of it I just can't understand, some of it conflicts with previous posts and it is very confusing as to Vet, Specialists, Pain Meds, No Meds, Not doing Good, Now doing better.

We all just want Tahoe to get the best care he could possibly get. Please stop picking on SimplyYorkie, believe me she has Tahoes best interest and well being in mind, nothing else.
