back surgery is serious but its also extremely expensive, plus they do need to do an MRI before they can even do surgery. I see at least one back surgery a week at work and they are tough. However alot of people that bring their dogs in for spinal surgery cannot afford it because of its price. to tahoe's mom, ask the vet if there is anything you can do at home for him. Ask if water exercise would work. fill the tub with water and suspend the pup in it (either by hand or with a harness) and see if he will use his legs to paddle in place. This is excellent exercise to strengthen the legs and get back motion. ask your vet if he nows of a physical therapist who can give you advise about exercises to try at home to help strengthen him up. Sometimes dogs do get better without the surgery but it takes alot of work on your part to help him. |
ok ...here is the deal...i been taking care of that dog myself from the day he got hurt..he was limp for 4 days and now he is able to move his legs and keeps his head up when i pick him up...that is a huge improvement ...i think my vet knows best what condition he is in...if she is telling me there is a chance he will get better i belive that...if she tells me hi is not in pain i belive it...so what is the problem here..why people are trying to tell me what to do...i asked for advice not for anyone to call me vet and now make me feel bad that if i dont have the money i should give him up...stop posting this ...this is what you would do and its not what iam doing..how do you know yorkie rescue will raise that much money to help him???...maybe they will not and then they will put him to sleep...and on top of this to raise $5000 takes time so maybe i will be able to do it myself...dont you think... so if you want to help just pray for him dont tell me what is best for him...i know what best for him..and my vet knows that as well...iam getting tired of this now...it looks like people think they have rights to get in to my private stuff...to all of you who prays for Tahoe...thanks again..will keep you posted on how he is doing...Kasia |

Most the people on here are willing to help and have great hearts. I dont think they are trying to be noisy or rude. they are really trying to help you and your Yorkie out, Yes they should of got permission to call first and by reading one of your post it does sound like you was saying it was ok. Im sure they wasent trying to get in your bussiness, but trying to help you by donating money to the vet. Im so glad to hear that he has improved, and the vets oes know best. I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers for a full recovery. And for you because I know how stressfull it can be when our little ones are hurt or sick. |

In Regards to you little one. Okay Now this might sound foolish but please hear me out. I have only read a couple of your posts in this subject really quick. I had to come to reply right away. I have a yorkie that has AAI (Atlantoaxial Instability) This condition goes misdiagnosed and undiagnosed. My little guy would have problems with his neck this is a defect in the vertebra. Please and I mean please talk to your vet and ask her/him about this it is a very serious congenital defect. My little guy jumped off my lap and broke his neck. This happend last july. He is still not walking but i work with him day and night. Oh my gosh excuse me. my heart is just breaking writing this to you. YOu will you please do me a favor. I have been through what you are going through. Please treat your baby like he is a china doll becuase with AAI they can break their necks just by doing the yes gesture. I know that surgery will help if it is done before a break and after a break. Please PM me if you would like I will talk to you more or I will give you my email address and you and I can talk. there is also places that will help with the cost of the surgery if you get denied from care credit. Babybear's surgery cost 3200 but that was because he was in the hospital for a few extra days before surgery. So please contact me and I will go more in depth with you. If you would like more info on AAI (Atlantoaxial Instability) go to www.petplace.com and Type it in. That will give you a lot of info to read. Thank you very much and I hope all goes well. |

As for me, In the case of my yorkies, I would mortgage my house to make sure they are taken care of if they were sick or injured to make them better. But that is me, can't say everyone can do that. My dogs are my children and so they are treated as such. Would you let a child suffer if it had a neck injury or such? For ME I think NOT. JMO |

As for possible funding try Imom.org Maybe they can help? |
Tahoe! You came to this site wanting prayers and advice. There are some people on here that did want to help finanically (not saying you asked!) But you reply saying donot call your vet without your consent.Didn't you give that consent and post the info to call? There have been people scammed on here and it breaks our hearts.(You) came to a yorkie community and then ask us not to behave like a family?the poeple here LOVE their yorkies and all others with a passion just read some of the old posts.I understand you are stressed and I think good advice is what you were given, mind you all opinions will not compliment your views but you asked.these people are here because of their love. if I was giving money I would want to know as much as possible first.Or  are you to proud to accept help because others will be involved in your business? well any place you go for help will do that.I HOPE TAHOE GETS BETTER! HE WILL BE IN MY PRAYERS AND EVERYONE ELSES>but please don't make these loving people feel bad for caring and wanting to help accept what you have asked for at face value and sometimes even a little miracle mixed in;) |
well i dont have money bc i just got a house and i have big mortg. payment every month...i spend all my money on it to make sure it has a big backyard so my dogs and my daughter can play and we dont have to rent anymore so people would complain that my dogs are barking..they free to do it 24/7 now...i really do what i can...can i tell you more..my husband was hurt on the job 3 years ago..he is disable now and dose not work...his check;s are not much..and his medical is high...all iam asking for is advice...iam raising the money to help Tahoe..trust me...i did not pay my car payment this month and my credit will go down just to take Tahoe to vet and give him meds he needs... |

I keep saying that I am not going to post again, but I just have chills everytime I read more and more posts. This is very serious and I truly hope that Tahoe's Mom listens very carefully to what Val (Baby Bear) has to say. I do believe and Tahoe's Mom can verify that AAI is what Tahoe has. And if so, this is why we are all urging and offering all sorts of advice to Tahoe's Mom to please somehow make surgery possible for Tahoe. And just to clear something up with Tahoes Mom, I live on Long Island too, I have sent you many PM's b/c I could sense urgency in your 'early' posts. You weren't too clear on a lot of details, but what came across loud and clear was that Tahoe was Paralized, he needs surgery and you can't afford it. I acted immediately to try and offer you advice and suggestions, I even gave my phone# and was practically begging you to call me asap, b/c I would to work with you and somehow get you help. Stop making Me and SimplyYorkie to be the 'bad guys' I've got news for you - NO ONE IS THE BAD GUY HERE!!! The only thing that is here is a SERIOUS MEDICAL ISSUE, With Lots of ppl very very concerned, concerned enough to help you above and beyond just saying "I hope he gets well soon" PLEASE listen to Val's (Baby Bears) advice. If there's anyone that you should truly listen to it's her. |
Just wanted to say Tahoe is in my prayers, I hope he recovers from this. |
people are just funny...you rightabout what you wrote..since iam broke i need to give my dog up..put him in stress of having new peopel around him and make him suffer... |

So does your house have a garage or not? Maybe you could hold a garage sale afterall? Or a yard sale??? Maybe get your friends/family/co-workers involved to help you have stuff to sell to raise money for an MRI at least. I hope he continues to get better..... :) |
im not making you to be bad guy...just please leave me alone ...dont you read..he is moving his legs and lifting his head..its improvment since sunday...my vet is happy about it and you still pushing for the surgery...the specialist told me today there is a chance for him... |
