back surgery is serious but its also extremely expensive, plus they do need to do an MRI before they can even do surgery. I see at least one back surgery a week at work and they are tough. However alot of people that bring their dogs in for spinal surgery cannot afford it because of its price.

to tahoe's mom, ask the vet if there is anything you can do at home for him. Ask if water exercise would work. fill the tub with water and suspend the pup in it (either by hand or with a harness) and see if he will use his legs to paddle in place. This is excellent exercise to strengthen the legs and get back motion. ask your vet if he nows of a physical therapist who can give you advise about exercises to try at home to help strengthen him up. Sometimes dogs do get better without the surgery but it takes alot of work on your part to help him.

ok ...here is the deal...i been taking care of that dog myself from the day he got hurt..he was limp for 4 days and now he is able to move his legs and keeps his head up when i pick him up...that is a huge improvement ...i think my vet knows best what condition he is in...if she is telling me there is a chance he will get better i belive that...if she tells me hi is not in pain i belive it...so what is the problem here..why people are trying to tell me what to do...i asked for advice not for anyone to call me vet and now make me feel bad that if i dont have the money i should give him up...stop posting this ...this is what you would do and its not what iam doing..how do you know yorkie rescue will raise that much money to help him???...maybe they will not and then they will put him to sleep...and on top of this to raise $5000 takes time so maybe i will be able to do it myself...dont you think... so if you want to help just pray for him dont tell me what is best for him...i know what best for him..and my vet knows that as well...iam getting tired of this now...it looks like people think they have rights to get in to my private stuff...to all of you who prays for Tahoe...thanks again..will keep you posted on how he is doing...Kasia

This is good info and good theraphy, But I wouldnt have her do any of this yet with out asking her vet first. it could cause more damage if its a different injury and he shouldnt be moved.

I for one dont think you should take him to a rescue. I know you love him and are very worried about him or you wouldnt of posted. rescues are nice for dogs that dont have homes. But he has a home right with you an dthats where he should stay . Sending him to a strange place as a resue would only stress him out. even though they do raise money to help dogs, You can do the same thing for him. He is use to you so thats the best place for him.

Most the people on here are willing to help and have great hearts. I dont think they are trying to be noisy or rude. they are really trying to help you and your Yorkie out, Yes they should of got permission to call first and by reading one of your post it does sound like you was saying it was ok. Im sure they wasent trying to get in your bussiness, but trying to help you by donating money to the vet.

Im so glad to hear that he has improved, and the vets oes know best. I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers for a full recovery. And for you because I know how stressfull it can be when our little ones are hurt or sick.

check with the vet before you do this. I'm not fully aware of his condition and the vet would know better if this would help or not. it is used on animals after spinal surgery and leg surgery.

I think people are trying to give you the best advice they can since you did come on and ask for advice. People have went out of their way to try and present you with as many options as possible to get the best care for Tahoe. You seem a little ungrateful for all of the help these people are trying to give you. I hope Tahoe gets better but I dont think you should be mad at the people that are trying to lend you a hand. I would have continued to think this was a scam if simpyyorkies didnt call to verify it. We all go through tough times and I hope things work out good for you and Tahoe is able to get better without the surgery. I know you are doing the best you can but please realize these people are here to help you and that is pretty good of them considering they dont even know you and your first post was about Tahoe being hurt.

Default In Regards to you little one.

Okay Now this might sound foolish but please hear me out. I have only read a couple of your posts in this subject really quick. I had to come to reply right away. I have a yorkie that has AAI (Atlantoaxial Instability) This condition goes misdiagnosed and undiagnosed. My little guy would have problems with his neck this is a defect in the vertebra. Please and I mean please talk to your vet and ask her/him about this it is a very serious congenital defect. My little guy jumped off my lap and broke his neck. This happend last july. He is still not walking but i work with him day and night. Oh my gosh excuse me. my heart is just breaking writing this to you. YOu will you please do me a favor. I have been through what you are going through. Please treat your baby like he is a china doll becuase with AAI they can break their necks just by doing the yes gesture. I know that surgery will help if it is done before a break and after a break. Please PM me if you would like I will talk to you more or I will give you my email address and you and I can talk. there is also places that will help with the cost of the surgery if you get denied from care credit. Babybear's surgery cost 3200 but that was because he was in the hospital for a few extra days before surgery. So please contact me and I will go more in depth with you.
If you would like more info on AAI (Atlantoaxial Instability) go to www.petplace.com and Type it in. That will give you a lot of info to read.
Thank you very much and I hope all goes well.

As for me, In the case of my yorkies, I would mortgage my house to make sure they are taken care of if they were sick or injured to make them better. But that is me, can't say everyone can do that. My dogs are my children and so they are treated as such. Would you let a child suffer if it had a neck injury or such? For ME I think NOT. JMO
