I need to go feed babybear before putting him to bed. I will be back in about 15 minutes. I hope you have responded to me where I do have a lot of Knowledge in this department. And all I want to do is help. |
Tahoe2005 Please, please contact Mybaby4me. Like I said in a much earlier post, it sounds like your puppy has AAI/AAS. Both Val and myself have first hand experience with this dreaded disorder and even though your pup is moving his legs does not necessarily mean he is on the road to recovery..this is only a temporary mask of the underlying problem. If he is not treated properly he may end up with a broken neck which is what both babybear and Sedrick ended up suffering with. Please contact Val or if you want both of us and we will do what we can to help. Lorraine |
Lorriane, I am waiting hoping se will talk to one of us. We you and me both have been through so much with this congenital defect. And it goes undiagnosed so often. I have pmed her about our group we are in maybe she will join. Where we do not allow bashing it sometimes helps when that isn't happening. We both know how hard it is to take care of these special needs babies and being bashed is the last thing you need in this time. I am just hoping she will take our help. Oh I must add I have three kids and my husband works I take care of a lady that had a stroke free of charge. So there is only on income coming in here also. I am still paying babybear's bills. I dont' care if it takes my life time I at least know his neck will not break again. Oh yes i said check my avaitor well that is baby in a wheel chair trying to learn to walk again after surgery. like 6 months out post op this is what you will deal with if he breaks his neck unless you are one of the lucky ones like Lorriane and your baby walks again. We have many pups on our group Lorriane and I are on that are AAI/AAS survivers and they are running and playing like normal babies. I want to see this for you. |

Okay I need to say this really quick because it is getting late. It is after 1:00am and I have been waiting for a response for Tahoe's mom. It only take an x-ray 100.00 to diagnose AAI. I have all the billing records from Babybear's surgery and hospital stay in front of me. I paid the ER vet 100.00 for an x-ray that said yes it was AAI and his neck was broken. They can tell by this. The mri is very expensive and not needed. It is just the vets way of getting money for some expensive test that doesn't need to be done. Babybear's emergancy surgery was 3200 for 5 day stay in Intensive care and for his surgery. I had paid more the days prier because of tests that were done at my vets office and also I had taken babybear to the ER and had to go home to get the funds to have the surgery done. I didn't know if we could come up with the money. I did go through care credit but they denied me. They approved my husband. Now this was after I begged my family memebers for loans and no one had the money. I sure wasn't expection to be sitting in my livingroom one Saturday morning loving on my babybear and him turn to jump down and break his neck and go into a sezuire and go completely stiff and turn blue. I dont' think anyone expects that. But unfortnately it happend and no I couldnt' afford the surgery. Just like Tahoe's mom. I got my husband approved for Carecredit. I was smart the hosital gave me a price I put the amount in higher just in case something else came up and my husband was approve. Now I am still paying for baby's surgery, but it got done. If it wasn't for my husband I dont' know what I would have done. I didn't have anyone, I had no support, I didnt' know about Yorkie Talk until about a month after baby broke his neck. So I went through this alone with family memembers saying oh it is just a damn dog. Not to me he was my baby. And just like my skin kids I was willing to do anything. But this can happen to Tahoe. That is why I am so concerned. I know you are putting a lot of work into this little guy, but if he ends up with a broken neck it might be to late. Lorriane went through the same thing as me, but her little guy just made the yes gesture and broke his neck. It doesn't take much if they have AAI. And my ER vet told me that yes I could take Babybear home and put a neck brace on him and hope he heals. But that doesn't stop that fact he has AAI and the only way to fix this is to put either pins or wire in the neck to stablize it. (believe me I am very knowledgable when it comes to AAI)The neck brace would only be a temperary fix. The AAI is still present and the neck and break at anytime. As a matter of fact my vet said if he finds any more babies with this congenital defect he is refering them to me because I am more knowledgable on this subject then he is. I think this is why there is a lot of people on this group that are telling you to please contact me so I can tell you what I have gone through with baby. You have only heard a very short part of what I went through with him and am still going through with him. OH and he was only 18 months when he broke his neck. But i had been dealing with this since he was 6 months old. BEing told it was a pinched nerve. I will be going to work tomorrow I will try to get on before I leave to see if you have posted to me. IF not I will check when I get home. Hope Tahoe is doing better and please keep him quite and either kenneled( i hate to do this to my baby) or if he is still paralyzed put him in a play pen or a very small area with pillows if he tries to stand he doesnt' injure himself. Please heed my warnings I am only trying to help you out. My heart is truely breaking for Tahoe and you. |

I dont agree with what she did, but you posted the info. I am very sorry for your poor puppy, that is so sad, but dont start attacking people on here who question you when you are brand new and so defensive. Good luck to you. |

OMG.....dont you just want to put those owners in a cell and make them starve and suffer. That really pisses me off more than I can say! |

Earlier in your posts you said you didn't have a garage, then you said you just bought a house. Which one is it? You have a yard, right? Have a yard sale. Get friends and family and co-workers involved to help raise money. If this doesn't work, then maybe you can come up with other ideas. I don't think it's such a bad thing to try to raise money for your injured dog. I know he's showing improvement, but what if something goes wrong? What will you do then? If your dog has AAI, then you need to start getting extra cash to help your baby. Please stop being defensive and try to listen to what we're telling you. It's for your baby's sake. (ok, enough from me on this topic) |

Tahoe's mom, I do agree with the others that you might just want to PM Mybaby4me about tahoe's condition. See if its the same as what her dog is going thru. She has a paralyzed baby and has been dealing with it for over a month. She may have some tips for you. I also understand that you are trying your best to raise money. Just because you have a garage or a yard doesn't mean you have the stuff to sell for a garage/yard sale. And i know even care credit can't help with everything but it will give you some money and then you will only have to raise what's left. I don't know if everyone else understands care credit, but it does not always give you 100% of what you need for the surgery. yesterday we had a yorkie come in with chest trauma and a broken leg whos surgery was going to cost well over $5000 and care credit only gave them $1000. its sad. they couldn't afford it and i was so mad that they were going to do nothing because the dog was in pain at the time. Chest trauma and trouble breathing is a life threatening thing. Paralysis while serious isn't an immediate danger to the dogs health. One more thing, have you applied for a new credit card? I had laser eye surery done last year and i applied for a amex card that had no interest for a certain amounts of month. they only gave me $2000 line of credit, so after i was approved, i called them up and asked for more because i needed a surgical procedure done and they gave it to me. A couple months later i applied for a discover card with no interest for a year and transfered the balance on my amex to that card so i'm still paying it off slowly but not paying intererst. maybe you can try something like this? good luck and i hope tahoe does better each day. The member(s) who called to check on his condition did everyone a favor - the original posts seemed to be all about looking for financial help....Verifying there was a sick puppy protects people on this site who may have sent money without verifying it was legit. How would everyone feel if people just blindly sent in money and there was no sick dog ? When someone signs up & their 1st posts are about lack of money, we HAVE to question it....it's too easy to get taken advantage of. If someone made a call to verify there really is a sick dog it doesn't make them the bad guy ...tahoe2005 was the one who posted the info. If she really wanted to keep that info private it shouldn't have been on the site. oh...and just FYI for anyone who does want to donate - ALWAYS Send it directly to the vet. If no one cared - there would be NO posts on this thread......sorry for the long post and I hope Tahoe is going to be ok..... |
