| Travelling with my yorkie. I need some advice. Hello everybody! In June, I will go to Disney and of course I'm taking my baby with me. I already made reservations in a pet friendly hotel, and I would like you to give me some advice. Also, I'm going to travel outside the country to visit my family. What do I have to do? Have any of you travelled with your yorkie before? Would you tell me your experience? Thank you! |

| I don't know about the out of country stuff but we travelled quite a lot with our last Yorkie. I always had his shot records, the name and info for his vet, list of medications and instructions, the name of his food and info on who to call in case of an emergency. I also took a jug of our water with us so I could mix it with the new water once we arrived so he wouldn't get upset. I kept his paperwork in my purse instead of in my luggage in case we got stopped and were asked for proof of ownership or shots. Last edited by Jo-Jo; 05-27-2005 at 07:28 PM. |

| You need to check with US customs and the customs office of the country that you are traveling to because each country has different requirements for bringing pets into the country. Some countries want to quarantine them for 6 months (which defeats the purpose of the trip!) Also, when you call them, make sure to ask exactly which shots they need to have updated and in what timefram they need to be done (some require that you do them the week that you leave). Also, I would recommend buying an airline-approved pet carrier and getting them used to being in it now. Also, check with your airline about whether they can ride in the cabin with you, or whether they have to go with the cargo. There are great books in the travel section of B&N about the issue. Try googling it too. I hope that helps some! And have a great time traveling.
