| can they really eat too much????? i went out to petsmart and got romeo the science diet puppy small bites in the bag to try and get him used to that and gradually ween him off the can. OMG - he ate so much of it that his little tummy is bulging out and his hard as a rock!! if you had seen him at the bowl you would have asked when was the last time i fed him he was eating so fast! anyway - my mom swears she had a puppy when she was a little girl and it stuffed itself so much on day she heard a little "pop" and he fell over dead from eating too much! |

| There's been one within the past year, about a very tiny little dog eating too much of the food that was I believe intended for an older, bigger dog.

| My minpin niece at to much and she got that bulge - it looked like a tumor almost growing out the side. Vet said she would be ok but just limit her intake.

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | I read that if they or any animal for that matter over eat they get a bit of a digestive problem that is a colick like issue and they can die from it if you don't catch it.

| My sister had a terrier (not yorkie) and she used to eat way too much, one day her belly was ripped wide open, my sister thought she caught it on something in back of the furnace where she liked to lay down, it turned out that Pebbles ate too much and tore her stomache wide open. They were able to save her but how scarey is that?

| I'm not sure about Science Diet, but most of the premium foods recommend 1 cup of food total for a puppy. You might want to try giving him 1/4 cup at 4 meals a day if he continues to wolf down a large amount at once. Plus, you'll know he is eating well if he eats like this 4 times each day.

| his vet told me she wanted him eating AT LEAST 6 times a day!!!! 1 cup would not spread out well enough over the course of a day to keep him happy!! my poor baby would be skin and bones. she suggested just keeping food out for him to eat as he wanted for right now. i don't leave it out all day though. it starts to look yucky! |
