Who got snippy? Looks like a light-hearted thread where everyone is saying to do as you please with your dogs topknots -- bows okay, no bows okay. No reason to get all defensive. No one is saying you need to bow yours if you are not showing him. If you are keeping him cut short, a bow is sort of a moot point anyway, isn't it?

As my son would say......."Simma down now!" (Don't ask me -- I think it comes from some TV show or something -- but he says it in fun all the time when I get overly excited about nothing -- usually in traffic.)

I'm leaning towards getting a male puppy, and I would have absolutely no problem putting bows and such in his hair!

My opinion is that yorkies are very sexually secure, so a little bow would be fantastic.

I put a rubberband to hold up Teddy's hair cause his hair is very long and I don't want to cut it cause it's so silky. Sometimes ppl think he's a girl but that is what Yorkies are known for anyway, to have long hair and the topknot is just them. In shows boys wear bows all the time.

i see this alot and i am assuming that people feel this is ok since they are not big dogs. i just can't imagine doing that to romeo. if i could find a masculine item maybe but little flowers i just would not do. does anyone sell items for boys?

All show yorkies, male and female wear bows...I like them wearing bows.

Thanks! I got it at a store here in NY but I have seen it on ebay. Just put in dog sweater and you will find one

Well I have to admit I have put a ponytail in Casper's hair when it was long - usually just a black or white band, and it looked nice, though my hubby said he looked gay, aw !
My problem is how do you stop them peeing on their legs ?
I am all for full coats, but I HAD to chop Casper's, as he would pee on his curtains !
.....And it stank, unless I continually washed his legs after every pee !
I would love to grow it again, but what could I do about his poor aim ???
Any ideas, anyone ?

Casper is one handsome boy!! And he has a gorgeous coat!!

I had the same problems with my two boys. I now shave their bellys all the way up to their rib cages. This has helped me so much. Before they would pee all over themselves and would smell all the time. Now this isn't the case, when they pee they stay nice and clean. And they both have long hair.

Piper would never go for a bow in his hair. He prefers the short manly look, as he's trying to impress the ladies on here.

My 2 boys always wear a bow out in public. I think they are very handsome in them. I do not buy gender specific bows, tho I do steer away from pink, peach and any really girly colors. Here they are wearing regular old show type bows.
They also have some cool sunglass bows that I love to put on them in the summer.

having bows in their hair has nothing to do with "the standard" when it comes to a yorkie nore does any other accessory on any other dog for that matter, these are material things you all choose to put in your dogs hair and yes thats your choice. I dont like bows on boys or girls. The funny thing is most of you preach the word that your dogs are like your children yet I bet you would never stick a bow in your little sons hair and grow his hair long to make him look like a little girl.....right? Im just throwing this out in light of alot of IMO dumb comparisons i have read on this site in my time here.

My hubby says NO to bows on HIS boy, Harley....and with a name like that...no bow really fits anyway. I keep my girls in a top knot, and bows go in only when we are going out. It is the owners preference..tomato..tomato!!
