If so, I would make a copy of that paper, and do this: Write a letter indicating that per the conditions of the sale of said puppy, you were to receive AKC registration papers. Supply the copy of the bill of sale, and state that you are giving her 30 days to fulfill her end of the agreement, and that if she does not comply with those terms, you will sue her for breach of contract and will report her to the AKC. Hopefully, that will do the trick. Now, if she does not comply, and you want to sue, you have to show that you have suffered a monetary loss due to her failure to provide the papers. In which case, your best bet would be to say that you purchased the puppy for breeding purposes. If it states that in the bill of sale, you'll do better in court. However, if the bill of sale states that the puppy was sold as pet only, you will have a tough time convincing the judge that you have suffered any loss. You could provide proof of the differences in the going rates for akc registered puppies vs. non-akc registered puppies, but it would be a crap shoot. Hope this helps, | |

| I agree with this. That's why I chose to save my money and not register Hootie or Hobbs, even though they are AKC registerable. My lab, on the other hand, is show quality. I'm still unsure whether I'll show him or not, but just in case I decide to do so, I went ahead and registered him. Last edited by RLC12345678; 06-19-2007 at 07:41 AM. |

| Max is DKC, which I never heard of and I'm cerrtainly not wasting my money on that paperwork. I did a check on the pet store he comes from and, no matter what, all of their dogs are DKC, regardless of whether they're AKC or not. It makes no sense to me, but I never looked into it. They sell puppy mil dogs, and that's that. If he was AKC, I would register him. I have had other AKC dogs, and they were registered because it's another dog on the plus side - in other words - meets the breed standards. It has nothing to do with loving Max. I wouldn't trade him for 10 champion bred AKC Yorkies. I think somehow it has to do with fighting for purity of a breed, which then trickles down to helping to do away with puppy mills, scams, and other dishonest breeding practices.

| Luvs Lulu Donating Member | The registration is nice to have if you really care about it. I can register my babies but chose not to bother. I am not breeding or showing so it doesn't bother me one way or the other.

| I have a question -- sorry to jump in on the thread, but my breeder gave me Kenzies paperwork the same day I bought her.. she just checked the "limited" registration box. is that unusual? |

| Who was your dog's breeder? I think we'd all like to avoid this kind of person in the future those of us looking for puppys. |

| The way I understand it, "Limited" registeration means even if you register the dog and he/she has puppies, the litter can not be registered with the AKC. This is usually given to puppies that are not show quality and is in place to keep the breed close to confirmation.

| Donating YT 14K Club Member | Many breeders WILL give papers the same day of purchase (limited or full)...unless there is a spay/neuter clause. At that point, the new owners must show proof (vet receipt) before sending out the papers.

| Isn't it Stacy Luyvan of Slyvan Yorkies? Shame on her. Her website is down. Interesting....... Being a breeder, she should know the routine of paperwork by now. |
