| ![]() [QUOTE=lolabella;992204]She can't do that, it is against the rescue contract. When you adopt an animal the rescue still legally owns it. They could and would sue her. That is like one of the craziest things I have ever heard. That is a stupid rule. Why would someone pay that much money if they are not even going to own the dog. Maybe there is a good reason for that rule and I am just missing it. How would they even know if she sold it. Anyway, I really hope you can work things out. Have you tried taking him into a room with one cat at a time and see if he can get used to them, maybe he feels threatened by them since they out number him. |

| ![]() What kind of rescue runs its self this way...?? It is certainly not for the benefit of the dog, but their pocket...any rescue I have dealt with checks out everything...tests it with other dogs and cats..children, men, teens...they groom it to see if it is easy and try taking toys and food away to see if it is aggressive. I am sorry you have been "tricked" into taking a dog that is not suitable for your family... May I ask the name and number of the rescue? |

| ![]() Expen is a good idea. Just buy a really tall one and the pen should be one with straight bars so that he can't climb out stepping on the holes otherwise they can climb and then jump out.

| ![]() Some people cover the Xpens with baby gates or other things to keep the dog from jumping out. I am sorry the rescue center wont refund your money. They should be a little more understanding if it doesnt get along with the cats.

| ![]() The crazy part about it all was that I called the president,, and she said it was a State Director thing,, but she still can't refund my money,, because it's a board rule!!! The problem I have with this is,, that it's not in the best interest of the dog, my family, my cats.. Only the YTRN,, because they keep the donation.. The president was really rude to me.. She was like you didn't give the dog a chance.. I did though.. 4 days, 1 cat hurt, 1 huge vet bill, 1 dog trainer later,, said it's not a good idea. and I told her that... She didn't care... I'm sorry,, but that was sooo horrible... It's not like I don't love the little guy I do.. He's soo sweet,,, but it's harder to find a home for 3 cats, then one dog... Plus it's the cats home, they were their first... I don't know.. I'm stressed out about it all. PLUS MY husband is mad at me now, and won't talk to me.. Literally won't speak to me because I signed that contract.... So not only do I have a dog who hates my cats, but a husband who isn't speaking to me at all..... | ![]() Very true...try posted some pics of him and you may find someone here who would love to take him. Did they even do a home visit with you to see how all the animals reacted together beforehand? I am supposed to have one myself, because I may be adopting a resue....but I WILL read the contract carefully after your tip! Sorry about the hubby not speaking to you....that sucks....I hope there's a quick and easy solution for you fast!

| ![]() Its a good idea to rehome him on YT..lots of nice people here who loves to have a yorkie. You can also try giving more time to train him in the expen and cover it as suggested if you do not want to spend more money getting a taller one. Give it a month, things will probably change for the better.

| ![]() I'm so sorry that this is happening to you. They should have been more careful in who they placed him with or to have done a trial period with your family to ensure that this didn't happen. However, you did sign the contract and unfortunately there isn't much you can do about that so I think you will end up out of the money that you paid for the yorkie. I'm not sure if it would be a good idea to rehome him because if they do follow ups like most rescues do, and see that you no longer have the yorkie they very well might sue you due to the terms of the contract. I'm really not trying to be mean, I'm just trying to think of a solution that won't get you into any further issues w/the rescue. |

| ![]() try it out in the store, if you can, i got one at a discounted rate b/c i bought online, paid shipping blah blah and my little shrimp can clear it-no problem.. ![]() so it's been a waste of money and it's on craigslist right now-haha. I have a 15 lb cat who stays upstairs most of the time, my yorkies give him a hard time when he comes down sometimes and he'll just go back up... but he enjoys wrestling with them some of the time. i think all animals have to learn boundaries and it takes a while for that to be in place... you have to give it time, if you can... you might try putting the cat food/box etc in a complete opposite end of the house or upstairs if you can, I gate my dogs downstairs with me -just because they get into trouble-but it also gives the cat some rest..... good luck... |
