It's stressful for cats to be away from their familiar surroundings and favorite people - why put three well-established animals through that? I wouldn't even consider it personally. I totally understand where you are coming from. I already had my cat when I bought Remy almost two months ago. Remy is only a puppy, and Alisa is still a kitten, so I figured that adjusting would be easier than with older animals. No such luck. If I let him out of his gated area, the first thing he does is chase her around like crazy. She gets absolutely no peace with him. After the first couple of days of the madness, I just burst out crying one morning. I felt sooo guilty about exposing the kitten to so much stress. Alisa is very sweet and peaceful - I've never seen her hiss, and she never bites or scratches. She even tries to come close to his gate to sniff him, but he just chases her off. The good news is that she seems to be getting braver around him, so, hopefully, either he calms down around her, or she shows him who is boss. I think the best solution for you right now is to gate him off somehow. He may be a larger Yorkie, but he's no Great Dane, so I'm sure you can find a suitable gate or expen. Like someone suggested, you can cover the top of the expen to prevent him from jumping out. I know that you want them all to get along, but it will just take time. Eventually, they will learn to at least co-exist with each other in the same area. With lots of patience and reinforcement, any animal can learn how to behave. Another thing you may try is crate training him, if he isn't already. Put his crate out somewhere where the cats can come as close to him as they want to sniff and get acquainted. Usually a good idea to do this when he is tired after play, so he's more apt to be calm than rattle the cage. I would basically tire him out before you do anymore introductions to the cats, since their energy level is much lower than his (at least my kitten's is). Good luck and keep us updated! |

| ![]() It take awhile for them to get use to it. My two cats and Pheobe now they are geting just fine give them more time. I got for Pheobe the tallest x-pen, I keep them separate for almost 4 weeks (more or less), the only thing that Pheobe never try to hurt the cats, but my cats didn't like her at all now they are fine, it takes time and patient, but if things does not work for you hope you find a good home for him, because he sure is a cutie one ![]() |
