| For those who own 3 Yorkie Babies... How is it living with 3 yorkie dogs/pups? I'm debating on getting another one because i've been wanting to get another puppy so bad. i've looked at my local shelters and all the ones they have are big big dogs (like german shepards, chowchows, poodled, pit bulls).. My main concern is. i take care of them during the day because at night i work (11pm-7am) When i get home i give them food, change their wee-wee pad, and then sleep from 7am -1pm. then from 1pm i play with them and all that stuff.. my only concern is, is 3 a crowd? Oreo is very friendly, Ginger is also friendly, they are both 6 months old. would it be too late to bring in a puppy? (8weeks). they used to play with my 6 month old Pomeranian Roxie and enjoyed her company, although Roxie was HUMONGOUS compared to them and she'd always beat them up lol.. if i do decide to get another one, do you think i should get a boy or a girl? (if i get a boy it would be 2 boys and a girl... or should i get a girl.. it would be 1 boy and 2 girls)... do you know how possessive each sex is? is one more possessive over the other? gaaah i don't know but i want one so bad.. i just want to know the pro's and con's... i know a few of the bads that i'm willing to work with. - more poop/pee to clean up after - more yapping - more toys to buy - I'll have to fit two in a carrier (not that i don't already) and hold the other one. some pros- - if it's a girl, Ginger and Her will share clothes, - While i play with one, the other two can play and I can switch off - i'll finally be satisfied with my other puppy.. lol ahhh what is a girl like me to do? i have to also think about vaccinations. which oreo and ginger need their rabies shots. (which i'm hoping is next month).. and for the new on i think he/she just needs last 2 sets of shots + rabies. sooo what do you guys think? should i do it? im trying to put myself in a budget to pretend if i did have another yorkie, i could handle it with all my bills and all. but it's my boyfriend who takes care of my furbabies when i'm sleeping or at work, soo i don't know if it'll be too much of a handful, and i wonder how he'll adapt. also what other things would i need to buy if i do decide to add to the family? sorry so long.. but i just really want to be prepared this time around. - Deyna Khristine looking for that missing link.. yorkie puppy |

| The more the merrier!!! We have a 4 dogs at home and we have another that lives with grandma (she has 10 acres and he needs the open space to run) We have a female spayed mini schnauzer - 4yrs old 2 male yorkie/maltese full bro's diff litter - 23 months and 9 months old 1 female yorkie - 13 weeks old I'd say if you don't have your male neutered nor plan to then get a female. One issue we have now is our male yorkies are trying to not only compete for alpha dominancy but they are going thru puberty so they are trying to mark everywhere even though they are fully pee pad trained! It may take a couple of weeks to get all the dogs acclamated to each other but they will end up being fast friends. With yorkies 3 is never a crowd...the more the merrier! I think it helps keep them company especially if they are active and love to play. One of my babies Pochi is a total lap dog and would love to do nothing but sleep in your arms while Choppi the other is very active and runs around and bugs Pochi and Meeju our mini schnauzer. When we got Daisy, she was his match and she's very energetic and active and even tires hims out! Which I think is a relief to the other 2 and even for me. With 2 or more, I don't feel so bad leaving them home because they will have someone to play with and they won't be lonely. I keep them in the bathroom with food, water, beds and pee pads and they are content. When we first got Pochi he was our first yorkie and I'd take him everywhere with me but there were times I couldn't and he'd cry and cry and I felt so guilty leaving him by himself but now that they all have each other none of them cry when I leave them at home. Hope that helps!

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I'm curious too - I would LOVE another one - but it is alot easier with only one - I never realized that having 2 would change easy stuff like going for rides ...traveling and bathtime etc - you need to REALLY be on top of things to keep up with multiple yorkies... |

| good luck!! If your boyfriend loves your yorkies it won't be hard to convince!!! My fiance never wanted a yorkie, he had the stereotype of yorkies are yappers and toy dogs are for wimps. A manly man gets a "real dog" but after we got Pochi he was hooked, he half-heartedly protested when we got Choppi and rolled his eyes when I said I wanted a girl and when I got him to go with me to meet the breeder (1.5 hr away from us) he fell in love with Daisy and of course couldn't say no. They are always the biggest softies at heart!

| see now i want one soo bad!!! only problem is pricing. i can totally afford it, but not all at once as most people ask. (cause i have bills to pay as well).. and i'm so impatient, if i put a deposit down on a dog, i'd want it asap, i wouldn't mind paying for it.. but then again i can't find anyone to do that except where i got Ginger, and i really don't want to go back there |

| I think its hard to say, I have 3 and would even get a 4th! It was a lot easier with one, but I think once you have 2 it is really no different having 3 (atleast for me) It is better because if one doesnt want to play and wants to rest, there is another one to keep the other company. Its not like yorkies eat a lot, but the only thing that would worry me is the emergency situations which I guess you always have to be "prepared" for, going to the vet for emergencies. the more you have the more risk you might end up at the vet. I think there is absolutely nothing wrong with being a dog lover, both our sets of parents try to make us feel guilty but when you are self supporting and independent you can make your own choices. I think its great that you are trying to think about it rationally and see all points of view. I have a feeling that you will go for it no matter what You know in your hear that you want one and I was the same way when we got our 3rd! I posted on another forum saying how I wanted 3 what did people think. I got mixed responses, waited about 2 weeks and posted again, I knew what I wanted and there was nothing that was going to stop me Im so glad we got our Maya maltese! I would probably get a 4th if Mike would let me, I could really have a million but they do demand A LOT of attention and we do give them all the attention that they need so I dont think it would be fair to get a 4th. Also, 6 months is definitely not too old to introduce another puppy! |

| definitely not, I would look into a few different breeds if that is what you are interested in. Maltese's are wonderful, just beware of their coat. It is SO hard to take care of, it might not seem like it but their hair is TOTALLY different than a yorkie and a yorkie/maltese mix. It is so soft it is PURE cotton and right now Maya is going to the groomer tomorrow because she needs to be shaved. I went out of town for one weekend and she wasnt brushed and now her entire coat is ruined with mats. They arent mats like yorkies where you can pull apart at them, I cant even explain them. The tear stains arent hard to take care of, it really is just the coat (which dont let that discourage you from a Maltese) its just if you dont feel like you have the time to groom her consistently everyday than it might not be the best idea. I love westies Maltese's and yorkies are definitely my dog, especially because they dont shed and I have allergies! If I were looking I would possibly also look into a bichon, and maltese/poodle (their coats are a lot easier to take care of and ou probably could get one for cheaper than a purebred yorkie or maltese). Just some suggestions, you will fall in love with whatever you get |

| I only have my two boys, so I can't help you with that dilemma (but think a lot about getting a little girl). 6 months is a great time to introduce a new puppy. Bentley was 6 months when we got Griffin and it was a very easy transition as they are both at playful ages and are puppies, but are independent as well. My vet told me that as long as a dog is under two years old, the transition should be fine. A good argument for getting a third is that you can take one with you when you go shopping, etc. and there are still two at home to play while you are gone. I have this problem right now because they both want to go with me everywhere and i don't want to leave one behind so I take them both with me, but it is hard to maneuver with two dogs and I can't find the right bag to carry them in (it also gets pretty heavy). Having a third would solve this problem Good luck - I'm sure you will make the right decision. |

| Hi, it is never too late add a puppy or another dog in my opinion. If you can afford the vet bills and future vet bills as they age, I say go for it. Remember that you only have two hands but the good thing is that you can tie all the leashes together when you walk them. I had 3 dogs for years with usually two foster dogs. When I wanted them to come to me, it was much easier just to call "DOGS!" If you want to carry your dogs three might fit in to a dog stroller. I know you can buy different sizes. I like to take Mya everywhere. My 13 yr old Pom is only interested in trips to the park or going to the cottage. He sleeps 18 hours a day so he is not jealous that I take Mya out in her carry bag. I would imagine it would be hard to go shopping with three tiny dogs with out a stroller. Besides, I find the bags weigh more than the dog *grin*

| if i do get three, i do like that idea where i could bring one, leave two.. because i hate taking just one and leaving one behind.. so i can never bring them anywhere unless it's in their big bag.. that the two of them can fit, but believe me they get heavy easily while i shop. not to mention my boyfriend doesn't want to be seen wearing a manpurse LOL.. im still debating.. i'd so totally get that stroller thing. i don't care what anyone thinks of me.. but.. anyone have any bad stories with 3 yorkies? my only problem right now is that Ginger is a YAPPER!!! i can't control her no matter what i say, or do. .. i'm leaning toward that anti-bark collar.. but i find it kinda cruel.. any advice? she barks for no reason sometimes and Oreo is picking that habit up too.. i want her to stop before he picks it up completely. and i'm hoping the third one won't pick up her bad habit as well. also, would i have to buy more toys huh? oreo and ginger have plenty of toys as it is, but they get tired of them easily. and start to chew on my furniture. i found out the hard way to give them toys instead of them chewing on my electronics... sooo any more advice, good or bad, stories as well. i'm all ears.. i want to get the most i can from here before i go on and either get another one.. or just not oh before i forget, i want everyone to know that i can totally afford the vet bills and all that stuff.. i'm still in the process of trying to find the right vet for my babies.. so my search is never ending, until i find mister/miss right! |
