Yorkie Yakker | Mother in-laws male yorkie Hi Everyone! Here's the thing, we went to see my Mother in-law tonight and after doing a little more research I need some help. She has a male yorkie who is about 2yrs. old now. ( When we decided to get a yorkie, we got a little girl so if we wanted to, we could breed them.) Ok, here the thing, I don't think he is a full Yorkie. His coat is really changed over the past year or so. He started out black and tan ( I wouldn't say blue, but I could be wrong) But now he is almost all silver with a little bit of tan, no black/blue at all. He has a very curly coat, and his ears are a bit floppy. His legs also seem to be a bit long for his body. Please Don't get me wrong, He is a sweetie and she loves him ooooooo sooooooo much! But I do not want to breed my little girl with him. I'm hoping you guy's can help me, do you think he could be part poodle (He is reg. AKC) or is this just a lot of faults? I know she will not be happy when I tell her that we will not be breeding the two, but I really feel it's for the best. So, if we do decide to breed her, we will need to find a good stud in Mi. Not sure if that's what we want to do or not.

| my louie has long legs and is silver with tan on em. He is a yorkie but with breeding of 2 bigger dogs. He weighs 13 lbs due to long body and long legs. (he's skinny) I'm sure ur in-laws are in the same situation. Louie was black and tan, with a white spot on the top of his head. It eventually turned tan but his hair is the cottony coat, which I'm not that fond of. But I keep it shorter and dont have any problems with knotting up when I do that.

| Even if he is a full yorkie, you never want to breed a dog that has obvious faults. You would want to breed for the best example of the breed that you can. I know you are in a touchy spot with your mother in law, as she probably thinks her baby is perfect; but maybe you could explain you are looking to find a darker colored stud, or a smaller one; but that you hope you can find what you are looking for in a stud with the great temperment of her boy. Good luck

Or, you could even say you gave up on the idea because Yorkies can have problematic and dangerous pregnancies sometimes requiring c-sections (which is true). Good luck.
