| If he stinks I would have to give him a quick bath. You could put him in the tub and give a quick shampoo and rinse. Then wrap him in a couple of warm-out of the dryer- towels and hold him. But if he seems too very scared maybe it would be best to wait. When I got Hannah she did smell bad and I saw a flea-I was very upset. I bathed her and she didn't like it and she was scared but when I wrapped her in those warm towels she calmed right down and went to sleep. Good luck. |

| That is one of the biggest reasons that I bathed Hannah right away. My husband was upset about having a house dog anyway because he said that the house would stink and smell like a dog, I told him that the dog would not stink. So when I brought her home and she smelled AND I saw a flea, I had to bathe her because I didn't want her to smell and be dirty. She was too pretty to smell bad and look dirty and I didn't want my house to stink and I didn't want my husband to be right. |

| Thanks Genie....my bandit looks just like your Hannah. I think I will try bath & warm towel method tomorrow. He is starting to come around & venture out of his cage & even laid in the floor next to me but he is still iffy about letting me touch him. |

| I find it unusual that your breeders didn't bathe your kids before you took them home. When mine are being picked up I make sure the come with ample time for me to give their new owners a grooming lesson. They have their bath, ears cleaned, nails clipped, etc...we go over the whole process. We usually spend a couple of hours together, going over grooming, feeding, shots, vet checks.

| My breeder asked me to not bathe Calliope for a week just so she could still smell her litter, Mama and Daddy on her. I thought it was a great idea but she didn't stink either so it wasn't a big deal. Guess it all depends on how bad the smell is and how comfortable Bandit is feeling. Can't wait to see pics of the little guy!

My furkids Donating Member | I don't think I would bathe him for at least a week either. They have wipes that you could use..like a dry bath. I would let him get used to his surroundings before I bathed him....
