Missy has been getting under the covers the last couple days since it has gone down to 40's! She doesn't seem to care if it is cool, she still loves to go outside and mess with the cats or bugs!

I really LOVE the fact that we have n EXCUSE to dress our babies...at least in the cooler months. We have nice weather year round in San Diego but they get cold at night and even during the day after a swim or bath.

I also never thought i would dress my dogs....but never say never i guess!

We have been dipping down into the 40's at night this week & all 2 lbs of Kodah has started shivering - Stormy not so much. They have neither been big fans of clothes but they are going to have to learn, because I will be leaving sweaters on them most of the winter. I have noticed that with the cooler temperatures our two are MUCH more active outside!!! I love watching them romp & play in the leaves!

Has anyone thought about heating pads or heated beds like they have for cats..
Just wondering how this would work out... of course for those not sleeping in your bed.

I have sweaters and coats for my dogs. I should get some boots I quess for winter.

My little Jasmine has had some difficulty since we moved to Massachusetts four years ago. She was born in Mississippi (gosh, I miss the South) and spent the first four years of her life there; she starts shivering terribly as soon as the temp. drops below 60.

I have sweaters of varying thickness for her, but, sadly, she just simply refuses to wear booties. Half-way through the first winter, she returned to the back steps limping on two of her tiny little feet - after being in the snow for less than three minutes! I about freaked. After that, I have always carried her to where she can do her business, then picked her up immediately afterward, and when I can, I scrape the snow away so she doesn't have to stand in it. Even that isn't enough sometimes, so now I'm litter-box training her. Hopefully, she won't have to go outside in the bitter weather at all this winter.

Let me know how the litter training goes...i often have thought about trying that..since I have two cats i know she knows what they are doing in there..(since she sneaks treats out of there once in a while...gross....I know)

Well in Mississippi today it was in the 60's. This morning in the low 50's. Harley wore his t-shirt all day yesterday and today (it was a gift from Schatzie - he got several great t-shirts and a really warm coat.) I was afraid he would not like it but he does!!!!

I had a small round cat bed for my last yorkie that was heated. He just loved curling up in a ball in it. He would not get out on cold days.

I need some sweatshirts and some more t-shirts.

My babies definitely shiver. I found that ebay has alot of sweaters & sweatshirts, etc. for reasonable prices. I have bought my babies a few things for winter through ebay. Plus another website to buy reasonable priced stuff & a discount for being a member of yorkietalk is www.barkindogclothes.com. Hope that helps a little.

Maggie has clothes for all seasons. Most of the time she runs around in the nude. When she got the part down her back sunburned, that is when we also got the sun block and sun dresses. The other day I was going through her clothes, getting ready for the winter chill. I noticed at night, she starts out on top of the covers, but wakes up wedged to me under the covers. Yes, they do get hot and cold, just like we do.

How do you all keep them from matting when they are wearing sweaters? Lexy mats like crazy when I dress her. The only thing she wore for any length of time that didn't mat her was a denim harness that Joy made. As soon as I get motivated, I'm sending Joy some coat fabric and satin for the lining. Hopefully the satin will keep her from matting so much.

Awww, so glad to see Harley is getting some great use outta his stuff. Good for him!

Schatzie has a few sweaters she will be wearing very soon as it is really getting cooler here now.

I wish she liked being "under the covers" more with us in bed but she doesn't. I honestly think Schatzie preferes the cooler temps over the heat. I have yet to see her shiver??

I have at times the same issues of matting with certain outfits. Schatzie does not "dress" often due to this. I have found that the larger looser items work much better than anything too tight and close to her coat.

I guess dogs get cold just like us. I don't remember learning about dogs and being cold in my Vet assistant classes. But what I can tell you is, dogs do not cool off like we do. Dogs only have sweat glands in their mouths and between their toes, so to cool a dog off put their feet in cool water.
Sorry I don't remember about the cold part.
