My little Jasmine has had some difficulty since we moved to Massachusetts four years ago. She was born in Mississippi (gosh, I miss the South) and spent the first four years of her life there; she starts shivering terribly as soon as the temp. drops below 60.
I have sweaters of varying thickness for her, but, sadly, she just simply refuses to wear booties. Half-way through the first winter, she returned to the back steps limping on two of her tiny little feet - after being in the snow for less than three minutes! I about freaked. After that, I have always carried her to where she can do her business, then picked her up immediately afterward, and when I can, I scrape the snow away so she doesn't have to stand in it. Even that isn't enough sometimes, so now I'm litter-box training her. Hopefully, she won't have to go outside in the bitter weather at all this winter. |
