Donating YT 30K Club Member | ![]() I am sorry you are having problems with Remmie. My 10 year old pom is food agressive and territorial. SHe has bit me a few times when I tried to get something from her and give her meds. I know most people wouldn't put up with that but I really could never train her right. SHe won't let me near her when she is being aggresive. But I know I could never give up on her but everyone has different circumstances and I hope you find a solution that works for you and Remmie.

You should have grabbed him by the scruff (like mommy's do) and put him on his back regardless of how much he fought you until you had him calm and submissive. THAT IS WHY HE CONTINUED TO GROWL AT YOU AFTERWARDS!!! He had NOT submitted to you and him continuing to growl only show him he is more dominate. A SUBMISSIVE dog would have been licking you afterwards or apoligizing in some way.

If you have watched the dog whisperer enough you know that there have been many episodes where the people have more than one dog, but only one of the dogs has a behavior issue. It happens, they have different personalities. Yorkies are very fiesty little guys. so since you have already gotten the other dog, then it is a definite that you want to rehome him. I would list him on here, and explain the issues he has. He will not necessarily behave the same for someone else. Rescue people rehabilitate dogs with behavior prohblems all the time.

| ![]() You may just need to start over with training. When you play with him you need to win and you need to dominate and make him practice submission. Put him on his back a lot and if he gets mad make him stay on his back until he is calm/submissive. The moment he even LOOKS like he is about to get a attitude about ANYTHING you need to put him on his back. IF that means stopping WHATEVER your doing to do it then do it. Don't spank him anymore just make him submit one way or another. Spanking HIM is not going to do any good but make him more aggressive as time goes by. But if you put him on his back and say no and hold him until he calms down you just may see a MIRACLE happen. Last edited by JACKSON'S MOMMY; 01-20-2007 at 03:51 PM. |

| ![]() When I brought him in this house I didn't just throw him in the mix, I took him out and let the others smell him and then I made the others let him, then he walked around and seen that the others were not allowed to pee and poop, and he sense that I loved them but I was the alpha of the bunch and I wasn't going to take it from him, which is really hard with all those darn cute faces, but he knew from the start I was the pack leader but if I slip or don't correct them, He knew from the start, so I think thats why....My sister has a dog that does anything she wants, alittle chi, she is around 11years and I see my sister chasing her down the street yelling like an idiot...the dog rules her 100%...I told her to put her on a leash and she told me Cuddles wouldn't walk with it on, so she put it on and she wouldn't....so I had to keep her after that and I walked in put the leash on and walked the little princess around the block...They just know... ![]()

| ![]() "They DO just know. that is so true. That is why when they have bitten you once, and then you are even the slightest bit aprehensive, they know they have the upper hand. It is all in the aura that you give off and the way you carry yourself. As Cesar puts it, "Like the cool kid in highschool" |

| ![]() The first thing I would start with, and I'd do it right now. is to make him sit and wait before you feed him. You will have him minding you in 10 minutes. get his food ready, then tell him to sit. then say wait. go to set the food down. if he starts to stand up, straighten up and make him sit again and say wait. Continue to do this untill he waits for you to tell him Ok. If you have set the dish on the floor and he stands up before you say OK then pick it up and start over. He will have a whole ne respect for you before you know it. All of my dogs learned this in one lesson. |

| ![]() Browniesmom- she already let her husband get the dog (it was free)... so she was rehoming Remmie and it didn't work so now she has 4 dogs in the house and the county only allows 3 so that is why she may rehome him if she can't get him to act right. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | ![]() I mean this nicely - if you're resorting to hitting him - even not hard - it's time to find him a home.....he's only going to become fearful and that's never the way to train a dog. I don't know why some get food agressive but years ago saw my husbands SWEET Cockers growl when they had their first real bone ...they just talked to each other acting all Clint Eastwood and all - but it WAS rib eye ![]() If you're having so many issues he may need to be in a one dog home and good luck. I feel sorry for him and maybe he's overwhelmed with the new additions ? |
