I am getting my new little girl from a breeder on YT also. I am in Michigan, they are in Kansas. But, I got good reviews on them from other people I trust. They agreed to hold the puppy for me for another three weeks till I could get a reasonable flight and as such required 1/2 as her deposit. I feel very confident in my decision and can't wait to meet them and my little Angel at the airport.
But, I agree that with such a small sized pup, 8 weeks is too early to take her home. I would wait until at least 10 weeks. A 2 hour drive really isn't that much. I've done that for a Yorkie meet-up!! I would make the drive this weekend to see her and check them out and then if you feel everything is okay, I wouldn't have a problem giving 1/2 the money.
