Villette, This is where Dori came from and this is what I was talking about that makes me cry. It was also the month of February when we bought her, you can imagine how cold and scared she had to have been...The article I read stated the same thing and there isn't heat or a/c on the trucks, they just throw a huge heavy tarp over the cages and go......you would think on the $$$ side of this, the brokers would at least have conditions better than this to avoid losses.............I look at my babies now all snuggled up in my big down comforter on MY bed and imagine those that are stuck in outside freezing cages and crates...its more than I can handle..but, we can't ignore it and pretend its not there.

| Unfortunately it all comes down to educating the public!! Most people would NEVER buy from puppy mills, pet stores IF they know the REAL story. The best thing we can do as animal advocates, is to keep talking to anyone who will listen, as well as get the media involved. The more information that we can get out there to the general public- the more pet stores that will be forced to go out of business!! It is AWFUL the conditions in which these poor dogs are kept- it makes me absolutely sick! The pet store by me finally got shut down, but I hear that she may have reopened recently. Trust me, I talked about her pet store everywhere I went, every chance I got!!

but - it's true - spreading the word about them can only educate the next person to make an informed decision and maybe ...just MAYBE one day someone will finally listen and put the brakes on mass breeding. IF Petland was banned from selling dogs - can you imagine how many LESS females would be bred ??

and I also "don't want anyone who has a pet store pupp to feel bad" I could totally understand why people would buy puppies from pet store. That is why they are doing okay with their business.... because they know what attracts people! I mean... description of the breeds weren't accurate..it sounds much easier than how it is to take care of the dogs. Then they take credit cards.. They look at you like "buy me buy me.. I want to run around the house and yards.. and take me to outside.." I am so glad that some of you have healthy yorkies from Petland... and I am also glad that you are with us here on YT community So much to learn.. eh?

It's a circle of despair.... do you save the dogs already there or try to help the future dogs that will be bred over and over to provide pet stores with puppies ???

| [QUOTE=Jaxon's mom I can't go into the petstores - always want to save all the dogs.[/QUOTE] It is unfortunately a catch 22- you want to save those poor dogs, but then again, buying them gives the pet stores more $$$ to go get more puppies and it never ends. I feel TERRIBLE for the dogs kept in horrible conditions. Like I said earlier, I feel that the best thing we can do is educate people. It amazes me how totally oblivious people are to the whole puppy mill/pet store scam. It's not their fault- they just don't have all of the facts. That is where we have to step in and tell as many people as we can. (TV- newspapers-friends,co-workers,ect!!)

| I've posted about the Petland by me before, they are horrible. The cages are filthy and the glass is not clean. They have a bunch of teenyboppers working there that think they know everything. They also are not educated on each breed they sell. They are repeating what they are told when hired and trained to say to customers. I saw the paws of the feet on a maltese red where his pads were damaged. He was hopping on the window as to say please buy me. I always go in there to look around to see what they are selling and if anything improves. And for the last couple of years, Petland is the same, no changes.

It probably was the one in roundlake, I think there's an Ace next to it. That's the one I went too. Ugh it was terrible! I remember the associate there was going on and on about her dogs' health problems (I think she had like 3 dogs, and they all had health problems) I asked her "How do you afford the vet bills?" and she's just shrugged and was like "you just do"...after I left I realized, she must've gotten all her pets from where she works, and trust me, I highly doubt with an sales associates salary you can afford numerous vet bills and meds. I don't blame you for keeping Haruka in her bag. Who knows what those poor babies in there are carrying ![]() I drive by that petsmart everytime I head into Gurnee, and a lot of times it's when the store is closed and I see no one in there. I'm always soo tempted to go break in and free all the puppies..it hurts to just drive by it

| I live in Maine and when I saw this on the news back in August I sat and cried for hours for these poor babies. This is so darn sad. I really wish this wouldn't happen to these poor babies. Quote:

The Round Lake Beach one is within walking distance for me and the hubby used to buy his fish filters from there (we buy on line now). I enquired about the Yorkie they had in at the time and it was $1800. (Had no intention of buying, but I did want to pet it so was acting like i was interested). Its scary that they feel they can jack up the prices by $200 - Obviously people are buying them at that price. ![]() I haven't been there in months now.
