Girl - my Chanel is bigger that what I thought I wanted - believe me - if you bond you don't CARE. What I think is bothering people is you've obsessed over her weight since you got her - you really haven't even given her personality a chance....It takes more than a week to get to really know your yorkie....

I know I fell in love the minute I layed eyes on mine but it took a long time to really get to KNOW them....I wouldn't trade them for the world.

Edited - I just saw your last post - I'd love to see her too - I bet she's just darling....I know I said take her back earlier but the more I think about it the more I just think you haven't given her a chance. It's your decision but a pound or 2 really isn't something to not like her for - and please read Tricia's post on her little tiny girl...They really can be fragil

I agree that maybe you should look for a small adult and not a puppy. No one can stop you form returning this one and getting another one...........BUT I'd hate for you to be dissapointed again.

I myself, could not even imagine returning mine. I fell in love with him on the computer and loved him so much even before he arrived (a short plane trip-from an excellent YT breeder).

I am not bashing you or your motives at all (please understand that).

Also, let me throw this in. My boy was 3lbs @ 12 weeks. He is now 6mths and has only gained 1/2lb. He is very compact/short/little.......the charts all pointed at a large adult (we will have to see about that). He LOVES to eat and has free kibble access all the time. However, he has slimmed his belly and gotten a little longer. He is still wearing the same size clothes since when I got him.

My point, I'd hate to think this precious girl will turn out to be small and you didn't keep her. On the other hand, even if she doesn't stay as small as you hoped for................she's healthy

Even the best Yorkie breeders can not predict what there puppies will be at full growth. If you had researched the Yorkie breed enough you should have known this rather than be sucked in to a breeder that advertises "tinies " The only sure way of knowing how big or close to is to get a Yorkie when they are at least 5 mos old, and even then they can grow a bit.

Also a good Yorkie breeder will not sell her pups untill they are at least 12 weeks old, this is what yTCA breeders go by. but there are some good breeders that sell earlier under certain curcumstnaces.

If you wanted a "trophy Yorkie" to carry around maybe you should have gotton a stuffed one.

Is your 1 1/2 year old dog a Yorkie? How big is that dog? Banks, by Yorkie standards, is HUGE - 6 pounds at 4 months. The breeder knew he would be out of the standard, but he's really mellow and very inquisitive. Initially, I thought a really small puppy would be great, but after reading A LOT of books on Yorkies and learning about poor breeding practices, I figured I'd be better off with a larger puppy. As it is, on walks through the Panhandle, he is SOOO small compared to the other dogs we pass. He was also sick recently - just an upset stomach - but I was really glad that since he's so big it was just a regular sick puppy office visit and NOT an emergency situation...with really small puppies, and dogs, for that matter, an average upset stomach can escalate into a full blown emergency very quickly.

I guess I'm just curious about your intentions. For example, I intend for my dog to live a dog's life. Running in the park, playing with other dogs and people, digging, playing fetch, running through puddles, rolling around in the grass...etc. I'm not saying you can't do that with a tiny dog, but I've seen alot of people treat their small dogs like faberge eggs, which in turn makes their dogs neurotic, unstable and just plain annoying to be around. In my opinion, it's all about socializing your dog, training your dog and letting your dog be a dog - fufilling his needs to smell everything, exercising his mind and body. If you can do that with a 1 or 2 or 3 pound dog - more power to you.

This is a really long post, but I guess my bottom line(s) are:
1. Think in terms of Zoe's needs as a dog AND
2. Think about your goals for her (or if you give her back, whatever dog you get next - regardless of size)

I believe you love her and I think you should keep her love her and spoil her. She is going to be small no matter what.

What breed is your other dog and what does it weigh?

First of all - I'm sorry you are having doubts but if you are, then you've answered your own question.

Second of all - you knew you were going to get slammed on here for your posting, which you admitted to in your original post, so take the comments for what they are. You don't need to respond to them if they offend you. What were you expecting?

Last but not least - 6 lbs is still friggin tiny. My Alphy is 9lbs and tiny. Scares the crap out of me most the time that I'm going to squish him, he's so fragile. My Max was 3 lbs and that was scary too, but to be honest Alphy is about the same size height and length wise as my Max was. I feel that Alphy is even more fragile then Max was.

So whatever you are looking for, I hope you find it, but be very sure that that is what you want. Good luck.

Thank you for recognizing that

People here do care..............moreso, for the pup (she's has no fault and only wants to be loved by her mommy or anyone else). If you really do not wish to keep her..............definitely rehome her but don't make the same mistake twice (Get an adult instead??)

i'm not sure if what you were looking for was for someone to understnad.. but to be honest with you.. you came to the wrong place for that... all of us on here wouldn't give our yorkies back for anything... so asking us to understand that you want to give her back because of the weight she may or may not end up is impossible for most people. Why dont' you just give it a bit.. i had a hard time bonding with layla when i first got her because i dind't know what to do with her.. i had never had a puppy that small before and i was kinda scared of her. but one night when i had her she got sick in her crate and was so upset... she stole my heart... the bonding dones't happen right away (kind of like a baby... it takes time to get to know this new person) but i think if after a month or so you dont' love her the way you want to then you might think of selliing her.. i dont' think a breeder will take her back just because she is the wrong size.. but don't jump into that.. give the little girl a chance to grab hold of your heart.. it sounds like you love her a lot and just want the best for her.. but i think she loves her new mommy and would be very sad to leave.

Not mad, I can now safely say that even if your baby hits 10lbs she is going to be very tiny. LOL

nothing wrong at all with a pitbull.. i know many pitbulls who are just big teddy bears! what does your yorkie think of him?? yorkies tend to LOVE playing with the big boys! have they bonded?
maybe by posting this thread you will find yourself defending your decision and in the end realize you really do want to keep her

You really dont need a 3 lb dog with a dog that size in the house. 6 lbs is really too small but at least there not as fragile. Someone on here almost killed their tiny when they dropped a calculator and it hit its head. Tinys are very fragile

anything smaller than 20 lbs is little. what the heck are these people thinking on a 3lb dog? 6 lbs is very very very small. jeezzz 10lbs is small.

like some of the post before, you cannot predict the size. my muffie was 2lbs and grew into 8lbs very slowly. i thought she was to be 5lbs

kirby was 4 lbs and grew to a whopping 5.9 lbs

each is different. you cannot tell.

i have a feeling you will be dissapointed again.

also....i would choose a yorkie #1 personality #2 smarts #3 breeder
it is never due to size b/c size cannot make you happy.....only their personality
