I think she should give her money back if she does reach full weight. I think thats bull crap that these breeders are trying to charge extra for a "tiny" Actually they should charge less for the smaller ones, cause a lot of smaller yorkies end up needing more medical attention.

16 oz is a pound, so for her to jump 2lbs in 3 weeks seems a little much to me.

No my Best friends cousin was almost the same size and now she is 7 lbs so OK 6-7 lbs give or take......You can never be certain as I said probably

Our last 2 litters they gained around a pound each between 4 & 8 wks.

That what I was looking at, because like I said in my earlier post I knew a yorkie that did the same thing...

Since she had such a major growth spurt in such a short period of time, her weight gain and growth might slow down. Every puppy grows at a different rate. At 10 weeks, my Tucker was 1 pound 10 ounces and he ended up being right under 4.5 lbs. fully grown. 2 pounds is still really small. Also, your puppy may even appear smaller if she has shorter legs and a compact frame. But if this isn't the case I would get dome of my money back.

I'm in Buchanan, 20 minutes from Roanoke. How do you predict when a puppy you breed will stay small? And what do you generally charge for your babies?

where do you live in VA?

I have family in Radford. I use their 12 week size as well as the size of the parents and grandparents. It's still just an estimate though, I got a dog from my breeder that turned out to be 12 lbs. The largest that has ever come from that breeding was 7 lbs. so he was just a flook! He was the best dog ever even though I couldn' t breed him. My base price is $1000. I'll add a bit if they are show potential and they want full registration. I'll deduct a bit if the dog has any nonhealth faults such as oversized. I'm working on joining two lines to create a specific show type and sell for pet only at this time.

i paid $1000 for her, and the breeders said that they charge 800 usually, so paying an extra $200 for a pup that wont be the size they said seems really wrong of them....off to work now, please continue to post, i definately will be back after my shift (restaurant shifts are short so i'll reply soon!

The only thing that I've been able to find on Hortons is that they advertise through CKC and they do use the word minis, which always red flags for me. I agree she should reimburse you the $200. She had no business estimating weight at 6 weeks old anyway. I would be wondering if one of my pups was only 6 oz. at 6 weeks old. They are suppose to double their birth weight the first week. If a pup isn't growing that first month there is a problem. I bet he wasn't getting enough milk.
