When Rocky comes out with me it's because I don't want to leave him at home, definitly not a "LOOK I GOT A DOG" thing. To tell the truth, while postive comments are always good, sometimes I don't have time to sit and talk with everyone who asks about him. And I hate when I'm rushing, and next thing you know I get a whole family "Oooh Look at the doggy can we pet/hold him!" Not that I don't like positive comments, but sometimes it slows you down. Then Rocky gets all excited and doesn't want stay in his bag.

| Great posting and I completely agree. I get plenty of attention as is without Jaden with me. I've never really liked being the center of attention but its been this way most of my life. My hair is platinum blonde, its been this way since I was a little girl and people have always stared at it. Its something I've gotten used to. I certainly don't try to cover my hair up with a hat or tie a scarf around it because it draws peoples attention. I'm 5'8, I weigh 125 pounds and I'm athletic. I always seemed to get stared at when I walk in a store by people, doesn't matter where I go I will get the "full stare down" from whoever is near me. Just because my Yorkie draws attention to me I'm not going to leave him at home. I don't bring him because I want attention, I get that anyway. I bring him because he loves to be with me and its painful for him when I'm away from him. Some Yorkies may be different and may be happy at home but Jaden is not and has normally made himself sick from anxiety when I get home. I don't bring him places where signs are posted that he isn't allowed to go or where I've been told by a worker he isn't allowed to be there. However, if there are no signs and no one has said anything to me I will bring him with me, not for attention, nor for the "thrill" of sneaking him in, whatever kind of "thrill" that may be I'm unsure LOL but because I love him and he loves me and being with me makes him happy. In my life, he comes first, so if the attention makes me a little bit uncomfortable, so be it, I know if the situation were reversed I'd want him to take me with him instead of sitting home alone crying and scared all day while he was gone enjoying himself. |

| I don't like taking her EVERYWHERE..some places are okay though like if i'm not in a rush 'ill take her to the clothes store with me. She always comes to the petstore and to family. Someplaces don't allow dogs and I don't like to get kicked out when I need to buy something cause that means I have to find another store that DOES allow dogs and buy whatever it is there |

| I take Kodak with me when I can, he's use to riding in the car since a baby. He loves being outside and he loves his little jackets and sweaters. If you pick one up and he sees it, he thinks he's going somewhere anyway. I try to get him out as much as I can, and no it's not for show. I get attention either way. I feel because people have paraded their dogs around, it makes it bad for the rest of us who enjoy taking our babies with us. I have not taken him anyplace that does not allow pets.

| I don't take my furbabies shopping I don't take my furbabies shopping but they have been on vacation. They have rode in the care on weekend trips and long hauls to see other potential puppies. They have never thrown up or acted nervous they love it. However, once at a truck stop the poochon that I was taking care of long term got very nervous at all the sounds and people. I get a hoot at my darlings they do get quite nasty when someone comes near the car when they are together but apart they will let somone near them. I do not let just anyone pet my furbabies friends and relatives.

| I didn't mean this thread to turn into anything about showing off your dogs. I was just trying to see if there were others who found it a total hassle to take their dogs shopping. Some dogs love to be in their carriers and out and about while others like mine are too, shall we say high-spirited. I also don't think there's anything wrong with showing them off too. When I took my kids trick-or-treating Brutus came with us with his "Security" shirt on and he got a lot of attention. I thought it was funny. But he was on a leash and just happy to be out walking.
