Crazy that dogs so small can be "overweight"! But needing to lose a few ounces isn't hard. If he told me she needed to lose pounds...then we'd have issues!

Jake is 10 1/2 mos. and is just 4 lbs. now. His breeder said he would probably be small, but size didn't matter to me. I don't care if he's 20 lbs. or 4 It's impossible for a breeder to know what size a dog will be. I would never expect one to be able to say for sure, but I do have a problem with the ones who charge more because they think the dog will be a "tiny".

chubby here is 3.5 lb at 14 months when i first got him at 3 months he weighed almost 3-4 lbs i was hoping a smaller pup but i guess bigger was better from past experience so i named him chubby. About 2 weeks of owning him, him running around the house he shrunk and he's names no longer suits him but it was to late to change it. i'm happy with him he's so cute ^_^

my Gizzie is 2.7 pounds at 10 months old. I was told she would be around 4-5 lbs. her parents were 5 and 7 lbs but Giz is still so teeny. I wish she would get up tp 4 lbs. b/c of health reasons. I never imagined she would be this small at 10 months I dont know if she will get bigger or not.

My little girl My little Mini is finally back up to four pounds. She'd dropped to 3.1 pounds because of that tainted Nutro food. Luckily she had a routine vet exam for her shots and he caught that she was in kidney failure. She's on K/D wet and has gained her weight back.

Wow... Looks like my Bailey is one of the smallest ones on here... Shes 1 pound 9 oz. at 7 months... I do agree with some of the people on here about the worry and stress it brings upon you. I wouldnt trade my little Bailey girl for a million bucks but for example she just got fixed yesterday and I was up all night with her last night making sure she was okay (her bloodsugar droped alot due to the fasting required for the surgery) and had make sure she ate every hour or so.... It takes alot out of you to take care of a little one but Bailey is the best dog I have ever had... It goes both ways, If you have the time and energy (and extra money) available to have a tiny yorkie its fine... The only problem I have are all these people (who really cant afford to take care of a tiny yorkie ) save up there money for months to get a little one and then dont realize that the initial purchase is NOTHING compaired to all the extra care and attention that is needed to take care of a little one....

| Breeders that bred purely for size are inhuman! I would not want my pups quality of life or health to be compromised due to uneducated breeders. I bred to improve the quality of the bred. To strength the gene pool, not weaken it. Any dog bred intentional to be under 3-2.5 lbs is cruel! My own child has blood sugar issues and has to eat every 2 hours or he may end up in a coma if we are not careful. I couldn't imagine intentional submitting my pups to something like that. I don't curse those whom buy tiny yorkies and can afford the additional care as they may need it, all puppies need someone to love and care for them, but breeders should not bred strictly for size they are the cause of these pups having to suffer.

My little Yorkie guy is 11lbs. He doesn't look so big, but that is his weight. He was supposed to be 5lbs. full grown. I love him to pieces however, but I hear ya...when you pay alot for a dog that is supposed to be small well...I know breeders can't guarantee but if they are charging more for what is supposed to be small, then it isn't right either.
