| I just heard from the vet. Tia has fractured the bone that runs along the back of the leg to the ankle (the really thin one). Her being only 2 1/2 pounds is causing quite the problem. The vet up here says that he won't even attempt to fix it, he doesn't have the tools to do it and is afraid he could do more damage than good. i was very happy that he was honest. But what this means is to travel about 400 miles to Winnipeg or to the University Hospital in Saskatoon. In either case, its going to cost a fortune. i'm already hearing the so called "realist" say that i should just put her down and whats to say it isn't going to happen again. i'm not even thinking that way... I don't care about the cost, I just want her better. But am I fooling myself? I'm so confused... is love blinding me????

| Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear. I know the University of SK in Saskatoon is FANTASTIC (I lived in Saskatoon for 10 years). They have one of the 2 top vet med programs. She likely needs a orthopedic surgeon to fix it properly - I would call the university and see what they can offer. My prayers are with you at this difficult time.

| I am so sorry about little Tia. Oh heavens what an awful decision you have to make. I'm no help because I'm crying right along with you. Is there a chance it will fuse together on it's own without any kind of surgery? If my not be perfect but there are plenty of dogs who get along with only three legs and live happy lives. Is that an option to have the one leg removed? Sounds awful but I have seen dogs with only three and they don't know the difference. Bless both of you. Carol & Buddy |

| I Love My Lil' Punkin's Donating Member | Oh my goodness, I am so very sorry to hear about little Tia. However, I just can't even IMAGINE putting my baby down over a fractured leg, especially if it can be fixed....and I know that you DO NOT even want to do that in the first place I too would call the university and see what they can do for her. IMO, our babies are worth ANY cost - but I know it can be tough if you just DO NOT have the money. I am saying a Prayer for you a little Tia in hopes that her little leg gets fixed Poor baby

| Leslie, hang in there. I know it is tough and poor little Bailey is struggling but please don't not put her to sleep over the fracture. It can probably be repaired. At worse maybe she'll have a limp but we have options now, without putting our babies to sleep. I'm sorry you and Bailey are going through this, I will be Praying for some good news.

| How awful! Poor little Tia...Many vets or universities have a company that will finance any medical bills. You just have to be able to qualify for credit. That will allow you to make monthly payments on whatever procedures need to be done. It has a name, but I forget what it's called. It's not the actual vet's office or university that finances you, it's a credit company that lets people take out credit to pay for vet bills. The university should know the name of it. Tia and your family will be in our prayers.

| I'm so sorry to hear that. I have a 2 pounder myself and completely understand why you would be worried about that happening again. I am with you...screw the costs, you have to do what it takes. Unfortunately, you DO have to look at the reality of the situation (darn that realist!) and only YOU know what is best for little Tia. Best of luck and hugs to you both! |

| I Love My Lil' Punkin's Donating Member | Yes! I completely forgot about the payment plan! That is a good idea! My vet DOES offer this as well for whoever needs it. Maybe you could ask them about it...it's worth a try anyway!
