| They QUARANTINED my baby!!! Oh my god, what a nightmare!!!Some of you may have read my previous post about how skittish and scared Parker has been. Well THIS has just set him 10 steps back! I took him to the townships Microchipping clinic. I figured I might as well since they were offering it for such a good price, and a vet comes in and voluteers for the day to administer them. So as soon as we get there, Parker is shaking like a leaf. The vet with no heart orders him up on the table, he's still very obviously scared and shaking. I then told her that he gets really scared, and that he will nip a little when he's scared. So instead of trying to pet him and try to make him feel at ease, she grabs and PINCHES (hard) his neck and tries to pin him down!!! At this point he's done nothing but shake. So this obviously scared him more and he started to nip at her at me, she's yelling at him and at me, that if he bites the wrong person they'll sue me. She then gets a helper, who decides to take his leash and tie his mouth and nose with it, so his tongue is sticking out and he's biting his own tongue now as he freaks out, GREAT way to get him to like his leash. She keeps pinching and twisting his neck while he's screaming and yelping and pooping all over, then when she knew she was hurting him she purposly would do it some more. It was absolutely horrifying!!! She ended up not getting the first microchip in right and had to do it again. Meanwhile I'm screaming at her to let him go that she's litedrally scared the $hit out of him, and that my own vet has NEVER had a problem giving him a needle cuz she knows how to properly interact with a scared animal! but she wouldnt let him go, she did the microchip again and got it in this time, but he bit her! He bit her BAD (I was happy cuz I was ready to go at her myself), she bled all over him, he was soaked in her blood. It was just an absolute horror show! When I bathed him at home to get the blood off, he was covered in red welts from her pinching him. As a profesional she should know how to put a frightened dog at ease, and not completely petrify him more. She should know how to restrain a 9 pound dog without purposely trying to inflict pain! It was so completely UN-professional. I stormed outta there and bawled for like 3 hours. If someone ever saw ME treat my dog the way she did, I'd be charged with animal cruelty, but because she's a vet, it's ok? She should know even better. And I gave her forewarning that he does nip, so if she was concerned she should have taken the proper steps, put a muzzle and gloves on (even though my own vet just has to pet him). SHE is supposed to be the professional! But today she called my vets to get his vaccination records, and then the health unit, and they've now quaratined him for 10 days (in my house tho). I called my own vet this morning to tell her (since she wanted to be notified if his anxiety got any worse) and to see if the microchips were even put in properly. He has an apt for Wed, but she's supposed to call me personally to speak to me about the incident. She will be HORRIFIED when she hears what happened. My vet would never treat an animal like that! She pets his neck and sticks the needle in without him even knowing! The tech that called me about the vaccination records couldn't understand it cuz there's never been any history of it! He's not aggressive in the least but when he was terrorized his natural response is going to be to bite! I'm wondering, is there a complaint board/system for vets? I've heard that other people have had problems with this particular vet and lodged complaints as well. I'm soo disgusted, I have to make some sort of formal complaint! Sorry for the LONG post, but I needed to vent! I've bawled for 2 days, and had to leave work bawling to go meet the health inspector. What an absolute horror show! My poor Parker baby! He needs lots of hugs! |

| Oh that would have made me so mad. There is no reason that she should have treated him like that. That is so unprofessional. I am glad Parker bite her. My dogs would have done the same

| OMG. What a horrifying experience. This vet definitely needs to be reported to someone!!! I would have tackled her myself to get my baby away from her. Parker only reacted like anyone would to being hog-tied and mistreated. Perhaps you can ask your vet what recourse you might have. Poor Parker - please give him lots of hugs and kisses!!

| I would be calling anybody i could think of to complain. There must be a Board of Veterinarians or something. They can't just hand over a diploma and let it go at that. Ask your vet, I'm sure she will know. You will have to deal with his total fear of vets now. That kind of treatment will stay with him for a long time, poor little guy. I'm so sorry you and Parker had to be treated so badly. That was totally uncalled for. Good luck in getting to the right people to let them know what kind of Vet's are out there "treating" our pets.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | HOLY (INSERT BAD DESCRIPTIVE WORD HERE!) OMG I DO think you need to document and report EVERYTHING - take pictures of his welts before they go away - poor baby.....and anything else you can think of - see if you can get someone who was there to comment and document this whole ordeal - that's Awful ! that made me truly drop my jaw reading that....I know we tend to be overprotective but a vet should never handle a fearful dog like that and she sounds like an coldhearted woman that treat a dog that bad....why is she even a vet if she acts like that around a poor scared animal ???? poor baby - I feel so bad for him - and you too - but man - I would be insane with anger - no one would ever be allowed to touch my girls like that. Can I do anything to help you ????? |

| thanks for all your support guys! we really need it. I just couldn't believe it, for the first minute I was just in absolute shock, standing there horrified, thinking, she's going to properly do this, she's got to! Then it became very clear that she wasn't and that's when I started yelling at her that that was ENOUGH! that she's done nothing but scare him even more, and my vet is trying to work with us on how scared he is and she's set him back! I said to stop, I didn't care about the stupid microchip anymore i just wanted to get my baby the hell outta there! but she wouldn't let him up! then she did the microchip again. I told her my vet never had any sort of problem, nobody has, he's never been scared enough to break skin before! She's lucky I didn't go at her! I'm hoping when I can speak to my vet she'll have some advice on how I can file a complaint, like I said, she will be absolutely horrified as well. Thanks so much again guys |

| OMG I could not believe what I was reading!!! I would have forced her to release my dog with what ever means I had to! Unprofessional is not even the word for her behavior. I would fight the quarantine every inch. Take pictures of the welts, she caused that dog to bite her just as sure as if she had been hitting him. She sounds so cruel. I would report her ten times over and put the word out to anyone that would listen, she has no business caring for animals.

I believe you can file a complaint via the American Veterinary Association. This Vet is in the wrong job. | |

| If I was in your shoes once she touch my baby that way I would tell her to get her hands off I am taking him somewhere else, and if she didn't she better be ready for a ass kicking. Some of these vets and doctors think what the hell they will come back, We need to keep in mind WE are the ones paying them. That vet needs a good ole ass whoppin.
