| Doggie Hairstyles? Emma needs a haircut really bad I want to find a picture that I can give the groomer to go from, but I'm having a hard time when I've looked through Google. I'm pretty sure she has a cotton coat...I like her hair long on top of her head for ponytails, but it's getting long on her body, and she keeps matting She mats mostly under her arms and on her chest, especially when she wears clothes. She looks so "disheveled" right now-her hair is always messed up, I think it gets in her eyes and it itches, so she rubs her face and body on the floor! I once asked the groomer to do a "typical" yorkie cut, and she had long hair on the head face, and a puppy cut everywhere else. I thought it made Emma's head look HUGE! Does anyone else think this looks funny? I don't really want to go back to the straight puppy cut, because we've spent so long growing out the hair on her head-but it looks scraggly now, so I'm not sure what to do. Also, they always shave up her nose and around her eyes. Does anyone else's groomer do this? If I ask them NOT to do it, will it take forever to grow out? What will it look like if it's not shaved? Please post pics of your Yorkies with haircuts, and let me know what you liked and didn't like about them. Hopefully with your help I can get an idea of what haircut to give Emma! |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I had a groomer do that to Chanel a few years ago - When I picked her up ...Chanel came flying into my arms looking like Sampson the Lion NOT my yorkie.. but she was SO happy with herself I couldn't help but laugh - inside I was thinking -"OMG... WHAT DID YOU DO TO MY BABY" ????" honestly - I didn't stop laughing for a week. It was THE WORST haircut but Chanel loved it, so I loved it the 3rd pic is much nicer...that one was her 1st real puppy cut after taking off all her long hair. look at this picture and tell me she didn't think she was all that and a bag of chips ... |

She used to be a huge Cheese for the camera - but she doesn't like my newer camera so now when I take pictures - she gazes off into the distance contemplating world peace rather than look at the camera but yes - she really does that same head tilt every day and I just love it | |

| She does look quite proud of herself! She knows how beautiful she is! That's kind of how Emma's first puppy cut looked, with the long head/face hair and short everywhere else. Emma looked (looks) a lot like Chanel at that age! Her coloring patterns are really similar, and I think Emma has the same kind of coat as Chanel-would you say she's a cotton coat? I'm still trying to decide.. Anyone else have any cute haircut pics? (I know it's hard to top Chanel, but I'd still like to see them!) |

| I think the best "short" cut is a medium length on the head and legs, and shaving the body. Or, I've heard people say....leave all the "gold", and cut all the "black". I did this to Kiki when she was younger, and I LOVED it. I'm growing her hair out right now just to see what it will look like, but I suspect I'll end up going back to this. Here are pics, but it's hard to really get the idea, because the hair on her muzzle was so short back then! I didn't cut it that way....it just took it a long time to grow in! But maybe you can see the difference between her body and legs. First pic is "before"....others are the "after": (whoops, sorry for the kinda unnecessary middle picture! I couldn't remember which one of those showed the cut off best! )

| Here's some pics of Maddie with the body very short and the long legs and face. I keep the body a little longer in winter to keep her warmer. It's very easy to take care of.

| i was really nervous about shayna's first haircut a few weeks ago. i told the groomer what i wanted: longer on top so i can do a bow, and then shorter every where else. she was really nice and did exactly that! she said that shayna would probably be very nervous since it was the first time and she might not be able to cut off as much as we would want but that she would do the important areas (like around her bum, her paws and around her eyes). I thought she did a great job and i dont think i personally would want her hair any shorter...i really like how she cleaned up her face and legs. here are some pics, hopefully they help. the first two are before, the second two are after.
