![]() Just wanted to let you all know...I am going to go for a second opinion tonight because the more I read about collapsed trachea...the more it seems an x-ray should of been done rather then just listening to his breathing. Maybe the doctor knows better and can tell but reverse sneezing is SO similar I would like an x-ray performed and an additonal opinion....wish me and maximus luck....I'll keep everyone posted

![]() My puppy Kodi is 13 weeks old. 2 weeks ago he started biting and scratching CONSTANTLY! I had him treated for fleas (I live in Florida and fleas are bad here) but he didn't have fleas and continued to get worse. I took him to a vet (the one at our local PetSmart) who said he probably had an allergy (my breeder said the same thing) and gave him an antihistamine. He did not get better so I took him to another, private vet (I don't like the PetSmart vet-he didn't even do any tests) who diagnosed the scabies (skin mites) with a test and gave him a shot. He will need 2 more shots over the next month. He is biting and scratching much less but hasn't stopped completely. He has pulled out most of his fur on his hindquarters and tail and has developed a little cough that ends with a gag. He doesn't do it all the time and it does soumd like a hairball. I figured he probably had hair in his throat from pulling his hair out. Now I'm worried that the cough might be related to something else. I got skin mites from Kodi and I've been itching right along with him. Has anyone had any experience with this? I also bought a product called Dermasil that I mix with his shampoo and bath him with it 1x per week for 3 weeks.

Dsf3...Have you posted in health about this ? This sounds like it could use it's own thread so you can have people who may be familar with this write you back...There's someone who got their puppy from Brazil and she had mites - they were VERY HARD to get rid of and it takes a month for all the treatment if I recall correctly ...

![]() Hi all....Maximus and I went to another vet yesterday and by his X-Ray's he feels that he DOESN'T have a collapsed trachea...he thinks it may be kennel cough. He advised me to keep him on the medicine that the first doctor gave me (because it is an antibiotic and cough suppressant) and then come back in 10 days if the cough hasn't gotten better...he says these meds should take care of the kennel cough if that is indeed what it is. If not I have to go back and he said they will have to put a endoscope down his throat to see whats going on..but he is still very little to do that. I am hoping he is right and it is only kennel cough...he said by feeling his outside the trachea seems okay and the lymph nodes are swollen (symptom of kennel cough) so let's keep our fibgers crossed....Thanks all for the support and concern.

![]() I am so happy that your puppy will be alright, you did the right thing by getting a second opinion. Years ago when I adopted my pom she was making a choking noise. ![]() I thought she was going to die so barefoot in my old pjs and covered in house paint, I rushed her to the closest vet. I burst through the door shouting "My dog is dying!!!!!" The receptionist put her finger in my dog's mouth and gently pushed on the roof of her mouth. My dog stopped "choking" right away. ![]() The top back of her throat just hung down and needed to be pushed back up. She continued to have this problem about twice a month but I then knew how to fix it. I googled this and could not find any info. ![]() Respectfully, cyn Driving the grammatically correct insane, one posting at a time.
