Default Horrible dream last night.

I debated long and hard over posting this message but the dream I had last night is literally torturing me. I awoke ready to commit suicide it upset me so much. I love animals and am absolutely crazy about my dogs – especially Adie. With that in mind here is my dream (nightmare.)

I dreamed that I was very fat and I was married to a different man than my actual husband. In this dream we had decided to get rid of a Yorkie puppy (which looked identical to Adie.) Nothing in the setting of this dream was like my real life. We decided that we had to kill this poor little dog and I went about beating on it with a phone book. When that didn’t work I put a pile of books on top of it trying to crush or suffocate it. That didn’t work either so my husband poured lighter fluid on the little head sticking out. (He didn’t light it.) The puppy kept popping its little head up looking at us like nothing was wrong and he/she was waiting for instructions. The next thing I remember is that we decided to keep the puppy and started cleaning it up. That is when I woke up.

I was beside myself! To think that I was even remotely capable of such behavior made me feel like a monster. (The monster is crying her eyes out right now.) Many of you have read posts by me before and you certainly know how devoted I am to my pets. I have always adopted special needs dogs and even adopted a pregnant rat (saved from being snake food) and 7 Anoles that came in from Texas on one of my husband’s trucks on a cold winter day.

The only thing I can figure out is that I have been very upset by some of the abused/neglected threads I have been reading lately and the brain synapses fired away in every direction grabbing a bit from here and a bit from there till it came up with this horrible dream. Also Adie got run over by our shih tzu last night and came away from it limping. (She’s OK and was back running with her a few minutes later – but you know how scary that can be.) I’m almost paranoid about her hurting her legs.

Please tell me that it was just a dream and I’m not a bad person! I can’t seem to convince myself of that. Do you think my theory has merit?
Thank you

Do not take your dream seriously. You cannot help what you dream. I dream horrible things sometimes and I wake up feeling guilty, but I cannot help what I dream. I don't know anything about dream interpretation but your theory definately sounds plausible to me. We all know what a kind soul you are to take care of rescues, etc. We know you are not a horrible person and that you would never harm an animal.

Oh girl - I'm a HUGE dreamer - I've dreamt the girls were killed in an awful way and woke up and actually heard my ownself screaming...I wasn't a serial killer like you were but I know just what you mean about how upsetting dreams can be....You may have seen something on tv or read too many horror stories and it just incorporated into your subconcious - it doesnt mean you'd ever harm an animal -

just like when I dream about Tom Selleck... I know I'll NEVER get lucky & nail him - but it doesn't stop him from invading my sleep

I have had horrible nightmares too. I believe that my dreams are a direct reflection of what I read, see, or my worst fears not of any sort of reality or prediction of whats to come. We all have bad dreams or good ones. I dreamt I married a famous NFL player LOL and yes he played on the Steelers and it was Sunday night after watching football all day I have also dreamt that my Mom was still alive and woke up with tears in my eyes. Sorry you feel bad but don't worry about it you are not a bad person, and you are definetly not alone.

This must have devastated you. In my opinion there have been such an enormous amount of sad, terrible posts lately about either sick or abused babies and I for one, had to quit reading them. It stayed on my mind and made me depressed constantly and I just stopped when I would read the first sentence that would tell me this was another sad post.

I agree with you honestly I have had to stay away a lot more, because I would be so down when I would read sad stories.

One night I dreamed that Hobbs died. My husband had to shake me to wake me up bc he said I was balling crying in my sleep.

I have also dreamed that I cheated on my husband and have woken up feeling horribly guilty. I have also dreamed that my husband has cheated on me and I wake up fuming mad!

After days where I am on YT for many many hours, sometimes I even dream about YorkieTalk!

So don't feel bad...we all have weird and crazy dreams sometimes that we can't explain.

Dreams rarely mean what you see, i have a dream book to which i refer to often after a vivid dream....as a general rule dogs in a dreams are a good omen and symbolise friends,...if the dog was friendly and affectionate it signifies pleasure and happy times with friends. To strike a blow signifies a coming embarassment.

So something good or a friendly person is going to embarrass me? I'm confused.

LOL not sure you'll have to read between the lines, to strike a blow was the nearest i could get. Maybe a happy time with friends and an embarrasment? but on separate occasions?

ok lou, this is what one dream book said..

unlike being abused, beating in anger can be a good sign. if you are beating
or being beaten by friends or loved ones, its a good sign for personal affairs.
beating animals is a warning to concentrate and try to get yourself
organised otherwise things will go wrong..

Hmmm,
I just had to file for legal guardianship of my mother (Alzeheimers) and take over her finances. I have spent a lot of time trying to organize that mess. She stopped writing down who the checks were made out to about a year ago. My husband and have three checking account and I used all three of them to pay lawyers, travel expenses, and different places getting her set up
in an assisted living facility; so I've been trying to straighten that out too. Oh yes, I'm now way behind in my work and have to get that all caught up.

That interpretation makes a little sense.
