I don't breed, so I'm not real sure when the ears start standing up on a yorkie. I know when I got Venus at 10 weeks, her ears were standing, and so were all of her littermates. Good luck with your new babies!

| Congratulations! I know the answer to get them to know their own names. You need to have separate training sessions for each of them using their names and have the other one watching in a crate/pen. So start with training one and have the other watch; use lots of commands like "Dog Name One, sit" and so on...and then put the first dog in the crate to watch and the second one to repeat with the training. By spending individual training time with you and watching their other friend in training, you will give them a chance to let them build their own identity (and learn their own name in the same time) and you will also be able to find out more about their individual character.

My neighbor got two little Schnauzer puppies from the same litter - and had them for more than 14 years. She looks back now and laughs at how much work it was - (and it really was .. she doesn't downplay that a bit) - but she loved both her dogs every day of their lives, and I'm sure she never regretted having both of them. I suppose it's like having twins.... There is no doubt that a lot of your success and enjoyment will depend on you - and to some extent on the temperment and behavior of the two little puppies you get--- right? (This same scenario could play out very differently for different people with different puppies.) Good luck - Carol Jean

I have never had two puppies at once, so I'm no help there, but I have a maltese, and there really isn't any difference in their care. Some malts have hair that's more difficult to manage than a Yorkie does, so make sure to brush and comb every day. Also, since Malts' ears fold over, they tend to have more ear problems. Just make sure the inside of the ears are clean and dry. Good luck to you; I'm sure you'll have many happy days ahead with your new babies.

How nice, getting 2 at once. I wish we would have, so Misha wouldn't have had the anxiety of us leaving at times. She loves having her sissy Piper around. there is a lot more grooming for Misha than Piper, but other than that they are quite similar. Piper has more energy, but that could be from what I have read do to her liver being off. Having 2 is a lot more costly than 1.
