| Harness-vs-Collar I just want feedback on why some people prefer harnesses opposed to collars and vice versa.... *Do you leave it on when in the house? *If harness where do you keep your rabies and name tags? Thanks ACR and MELOT (ME-low)

My babies wear a breakaway cat collar at all times that have their tags on it. I feel safe knowing that they have tags if they ever run away, and also knowing that it will fall off if they get it caught on something. I got the breakaway collars from PetSmart in the Cat collar section. However, I walk my babies on a harness...never do I attach a leash to their collar. There is just too much of a risk of a collapsing trachea to use a collar to go on walks. Always use a harness for walks. By babies still wear their collar when when they have their harness on for walks. | |

| I prefer a harness over a collar for many reasons. First off I have a very hyper and energetic yorkie who loves to run and chase quirrles while out walking so if I need to pull him in the opposite direction from which he was running, I would rather pull his front legs and back them from the neck. To me it gives me more control over leading him as well, making him to not be able to pull against me as with a collar. But the main reason I chose to invest in a harnes is because my dog kept making this loud noise coming from his throat that hurt me when he did it, so I know if had to hurt him. As he got a little older he would make the noise more and more frequently. I asked the vet about it and he told me that yorkies have a collaspable trachea that can collaspe by tugging or pullin on the collar or when they get overly excited. So I brought the harness to minimize the harsh throat noises he made and it works. But I still keep a collar on him to hang his tags from I just use the harness to walk him with. |

| I keep a collar on both of mine for the tags. When I walk them, I use a harness. |

| Rocky has a collar on at all times. With the leash we use a harness, except for a couple times when I couldn't find the harness. I was keeping the harness on him at all times because my bf couldn't figure out how to get it on him, but his hair was getting nappy so I don't leave it on him anymore.

Same here...I think the only time I ever had a collar on Sadie was when I bought her a "bling bling" collar...and...it is a cat collar....but, I don't usually keep anything around their necks...especially if I am walking them.

| My crew do not wear collars at all and the only one who wears a harness all the time is Howard -- he is still a silly puppy who thinks "catch me if you can" and "run to the barn to chase barn kitties" are fun games. |

| Mine wear nothing at home, and only harnesses when we go somewhere. I would think leaving something on all the time would cause hair loss and/or matting |

| Really...Matting or hair loss? Melot is too new and if I see the sniffing signal, I don't have time to put the harness on....I will now for non-rushed walks
