I actually think the people on this site are very mild mannered compared to some other bulletin boards I've been on. Talk about vicious! Oy vey! If you ask me, some posters may come across a little strong, but everyone seems to have best intentions at heart. |
i'm nice. some y'ters have very strong opinions. i guess that is what forums are all about. |

I think we get along rather well considering there are so many members on this site. A lot of different personalities -- from sensitive to very blunt that can take anything. Plus, things can get taken the wrong way when all you have to go by is words without a tone or facial expressions. I've read some posts on forums that were really vicious. One girl wanted advice about buying a puppy over the internet - she thought she was scammed. The responses ranged from you deserve it for being so stupid to you should be killed for adding to the pet over-population. |
This place ROCKS..stick around and you will find out for yourself...we have our ups and downs..nobody is perfect...but even if I disagree with someone, there isnt ONE person here that I dont like!! I feel like this is my home away from home. I was welcome with open arms and you are too!! WELCOME TO YORKIE TALK!! Dawn |
Pooh & Destiny, For the most part, the majority of everyone on YT are great and would do anything in the world to help someone. There are just a few topics that some people are very passionate about and when someone crosses the line they are usually suspended and/or banned from YT. I have learned a lot on this site and just try and stay out of the controversy posts and know when to bow out. I've found several people that I know will not judge me for my questions that I feel may go south if I was to post, so I tend to PM or email those people that I know will help me and not slam me. Welcome to YT and I hope you stick around. |
I don't think people on this forum are mean. I do think that a lot of people are opinionated - I'm this way myself at times -but I read what other people post and listen to what they have to say - and more often than not, I end up seeing merit on both sides of most issues. One topic that has been discussed a lot in recent threads is whether or not we should buy a puppy from a puppy store. I would. But - a lot of people wouldn't. And - this is a perfect example to me of a topic that has a lot of merit on either side. Of course, I can understand why I would buy a puppy from a pet store - but I can also see very clearly why a lot of people wouldn't. Wouldn't life and the decisions we need to make be simple if everything were black or white. But, life isn't this way - there is a lot of gray. **** I have noticed that a lot of people get their feelings hurt if others don't agree with them. And, from time to time, people state that they believe they are being "picked on." Some people have even threatened to leave for this reason. This is unfortunate - because none of us ever mean to pick on anyone personally. We are just reacting to words and opinions that we read on the screen. And - if we can't respond with our own ideas and opinions - there is no reason to visit any forum in the first place. I think 90% of what is shared on YT is just helpful information, ideas, and experiences. Only a few topics ever cause much debate - and those of us who have been on YT for a while know very well what all these topics are. And - they keep coming up over and over again.... and occasionally, they even add a little excitement here and there. Certainly, if any threads every bother or upset anyone - they should just leave and go on to visit the many other wonderful topics that are constantly being discussed. Don't leave - this place is just too much fun! Carol Jean |

I am not even sure where to start, so much has already been covered. I believe this in an incredible site!!! There is no way to put a value on the knowledge or on the true and caring people that here. I believe that we have alot of people that are very passionate about the yorkie breed. Some that will defend the standards to the very end, and yet without them where would the breed standards end up? I must admit that I personally tend to shy away from very strong overbearing personalities, but that is just me. That does not mean that I think people that have that personality trait are bad. We need all differents types of people to make this great big world go round! I have personally seen and been the receiptent on this site of the power of prayer, people coming together that did not know some one in need from Adam, yet they prayed, wheater it was for a missing or sick furbaby, a sick family member, someone traveling, whatever the case may have been the people on this site came together to help another member. Peanut did not know me, other than from this site. Yet, she moved her work day to come to the airport to meet me, knowing that I would only be there for maybe 1 1/2hrs. That is a friendship that was made because of this site, and I know that I will always have a wonderful friend in TN. Villette, who has helped so many with avatars, posting of pics, sharing her computer knowledge with display issues. Once again I have blessed by Vi, so that everyone could see Annie. There are so many other people out there, both Patti's who always have a kind word for everyone. I honestly don't believe that I would be where I am today, without the help of so many of you after Phoebe's passing. It was the members of YT, that helped me through, that were there, that allowed me to grieve, ask questions, and finally find peace. And it was here on YT that I found that wonderful little girl Annie, to once again bless our home with yorkie patter. I would just ask everyone to look at all the good and wonderful things that are here on YT, and I promise you this, stay around and you too will be blessed with all the wonderful things that this site has to offer! I think I have said enough :p But it case you missed it THIS SITE ROCKS!! |
Your post puzzled me as I have gotten the opposite impression during my first month here. I see so many people so willing to share their knowledge and experience, I am grateful, interested, and just a little addicted already. I have seen friendly, sharing, and compassionate members ready to help with whatever questions we may have. I was so puzzled that I went ahead and read all of your posts -- 20 of them since the first one Nov 6th. I saw your welcome post and 3 threads that you started to share pics and your pet intros -- they were full of welcomes and compliments for your cute babies. I saw a few where you posted to other's threads and I never saw anything mean. I think any problem you are feeling is coming from the thread you started about studding your 9 month old male. I saw the responses as people trying to help you and maybe save you some time and heartache. To offer our Yorkies as stud, they should meet breed standards. A cute, wonderful personality, faithful companion pet is not always a good candidate for a stud. Those who are serious about preserving the breed standards and improving upon them....are going to dissuade a person from breeding a dog that is out of standards. That does not in any way take away from the wonderful qualities of the dog -- just that it might not be the best dog to perpetuate the lines. My first Yorkie was the love of my life but she was not in standards and we had her spayed when it became clear her coat was wavy and she started tipping the scale over 7 pounds. I want to eventually get two Yorkies that I can breed. I have picked a couple of "likely suspects" and now will just have to wait and see what the next year and a half holds for them -- then I will know if it is something that I will be able to do. Even if they do not turn out to be breedable, I will love them just as they are! Just as I did, you received a very warm welcome and high praise for your little ones. Is that something mean people would do? You had your questions answered promptly -- again, mean? I do not think so. I took a very long time getting to the point -- that is .... just because you get a response different than you would like, or a different opinion than your own, you should not take it as anyone being mean or rude to you. Someone cared enough to share their thoughts, experience, knowledge, and opinions with you. That in itself is an act of kindness. I hope this gives you another way to look at things and maybe make a more favorable evaluation of the forum. I hope you start liking it as much as I do. Best wishes to you and those beautiful puppies of yours. |

i hope you continue to post and stick around. No, we are not all mean. As has been stated many, many times, people are passionate about what they believe in. The most arguments seem to take place in the "for sale" forum and I truly believe that if the people that are not even remotely interested in buying the puppies would stay out and mind their own business, those arguments would probably go away. For the life of me, I don't understand. It's like the people that say things that hurt people just scroll that board looking for something to say to "educate". Education is good and most of the people on here that do that are highly educated about our little ones and great peoplee except for this one thing. But, still, if they have no interest in buying the puppy, why not just stay out of the thread or "educate" in a pm. |
I hope you stay...don't let a few run you off...I think that there are alot of great people on YT! You are always going to get some that think they know everything, but you got to just over look them...Most people on here are very sincere about their yorkies and they get alittle upset over certain things we all do but its part of life...you get that every where you go...I got jump on because I didn't think it was nice to make a comment about newbys, and that wasn't to long ago...Just don't go into the breeding and for sale forums, thats where most of the problems are:rolleyes: This is a wonderful forum and many of the people are great....We all have an opinion some just speak it more than others....:) |
Don't worry... I'm sorry you encountered some mean people. We love Yorkies, and I have read many sweet, supportive posts here. I'm a sensitive Yorkie talker and always wish the best, hopefully my posts sound that way:animal36 . |
wow...I mean this nicely - but THAT was mean to say !!! How can you judge a whole site by one or 2 threads you may have seen ?? Try this - LOOK AT ALL THE POSTS on an average day - THEN - compare that to whatever threads you're referring to - It's NO CONTEST..... the positive & supportive posts are a hands down winner - There are far more excellent posts & people on this site and to take a few heated or passionate threads and try to make it sound like yorkie lovers are mean ...is just silly. I've been here a long time so I feel I can say what I said with conviction ....I've met some of the BEST PEOPLE ON THIS SITE I could hope to meet - and I don't mean just online - I mean in person too. I have a friend I met here in houston thru these sites and you couldn't find a nicer woman than Jamie - (yorkiecrazy)...Personally - If I thought there were 'mean' people here I wouldn't bother with posting. Edited...I saw all your 20 posts - you didn't get slammed anywhere...you received information - big difference |
