| Not a cuddler...why? I have a question. My baby hates to cuddle with me? Everytime I try to put him on the bed with me he can't stand it. If my husband and I are lying on the couch we want to cuddle with him too and the minute he comes up on the couch he goes to the complete opposite end of where we are. He just doesn't like to be cuddled, very independant. Is this normal or is it because my husband got him from a broker (he didn't know any better and by the time he told me where he got him I was already attached to my baby. He was a surprise 30th birthday present so it wasn't like I could have discussed with him that you should never buy from a pet store or a broker...unfortunately), maybe my poor baby didn't have much human contact and just can't get use to cuddling? Or could it be that it's just because he's a rumbuncious (sp?) pup? What can I do to help him cuddle more with me? I am such an affectionate person and I have the least affectionate baby. Any advice?

| My Simon is a year and a half and he is NOT a cuddler at all! I think he has too much energy to sit still long enough to cuddle! Hallie is 3 and she loves it so I'm wondering if maybe they like to cuddle when they are older and calmer? Simon only really snuggle sup to me at all at nightime in bed. I know it is hard, especially when you just want to kiss them and love them. I keep telling myslef it is just an independent "stage" and hope it is. good luck! But know your baby loves you b/c you are giving him a loving home. |

| Until he's completely potty trained he sleeps in his crate in my room where he can see me. The ONLY time he'll cuddle is when he wakes up in the middle of the night and I tell him he has to go night-night and I'll lie with him on the floor. He is full of energy though...hopefully he'll outgrow it soon. I want to be with him every second of the day, even when he's sleeping!

YT Addict | Alex is a big cuddler now in his old age. When he was a pup he wasn't a cuddler. He wouldn't really cuddle at all when he was very young. Slowly he started cuddle. Now he is attached to me at the hip.

| Oscar is 7 months old and has just recently began to cuddle...but very seldom. He got in my lap the other night when I was watching t.v. and crawled up my chest and snuggled into my neck...I loved on him and he made his happy sound he makes...sounds human like "mmm-mmm-mmm" It is insane!!! LOL He slept with us at about 4 months of age when he could go all night without having to go outside. He sleeps on top of the covers next to my belly. He is very independent tho and has to ask for his lovin...if he is not in the mood, I am wasting my time...so I let him seek me out! Debbie G. - Oscar's Mom "Greet everyone as you would your dog" |

| Ahhh, I think you probably just need to give him time to mature a little. The fact that your boyfriend got him from a broker is not necessarily a bad thing either. Breeders help other breeders out all the time in this business and I have seen some great puppies sold with the help of a broker. There are good brokers and bad brokers just like there are good breeders and bad breeders. If he was taken from his litter too early that could be part of the probelm if he had to learn to be independent and comfort himself at a young age. If he was less than 10 weeks when you got him that might be part of the problem or it might not be. I think yiu shold get a second yorkie because chances wre you would get a cuddler!! OOOOO......don't tell your husband I said that!! |
